KUALA LUMPUR, 30 August 2013 – U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative 3G mobile operator, is celebrating Malaysians’ love for food through its latest online initiative held in conjunction with the telco’s sponsorship for the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2013.

With food and the pride for local cuisine being the uniting factors of Malaysians, U Mobile is organising an online contest that enables consumers to participate and win RM 100 worth of tokens daily to sample delectable food and beverages served at ‘Taste MIGF’ – a special festival preview event held on the 7th and 8th September 2013, part of the entire MIGF festivity held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.

The winners of the contest will have the opportunity to taste food from 31 participating restaurants for this year’s festival.

U Mobile is the official mobile service provider for this year’s MIGF, celebrating and acknowledging the culture of sharing food pictures via social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. With high speed mobile internet available across the nation, consumers can share their exciting food discoveries with their friends and family instantly with U Mobile.

“These days it is common to see people taking snapshots of food with their smartphones right when their food arrives. This culture of sharing is what makes modern technology, communication and content creation so dynamic; and U Mobile is proud to be part of this culture through our high speed mobile internet found in both our prepaid and postpaid plans,” said Jasmine Lee, U Mobile’s Director of Marketing.

“U Mobile is delighted to be the conduit between MIGF and everyday Malaysians through online sharing and postings on the prestigious culinary extravaganza, bringing the event and the entire experience closer to consumers," she added.

To stand a chance to win the Taste MIGF token booklets, participants can log on to U Food Facebook page (www.facebook.com/umobilenomnom) and find out the featured food of the day. Then they will just have to post a photo of their most delicious recommendations of the featured food on the page’s timeline and include the hashtags #ufood and #myumobile. The photo with the most ‘Likes’ will be named the winner of the day. Each winner will win two booklets of the MIGF token worth RM100. Contest starts from 26 August 2013 and will end on 6 September 2013.

U Mobile U Card holders will also enjoy a special discount of 10% when they purchase the token during the event. By simply flashing their U Card at the Taste Tokens Sales Counter, cardholders can enjoy the special discount while they sample food from some of the best restaurants in Malaysia.  U Mobile will also be setting up a special booth to showcase their products and services at the event and at the same time to encourage consumers to sign-up as U Card members to enjoy the discount and many other rewards and benefits.

In its 13th successive year, the MIGF is an annual festival organised to bring fine dining experience closer to consumers. This year, the festival will be held from 1-31 October, featuring chefs from notable restaurants here in Malaysia. To find out more about the MIGF, log on to http://www.migf.com/.
