SUN EXTENDS SOFTWARE COMPILER AND TOOL TECHNOLOGIES TO MULTI-CORE PROCESSORS AND MULTI-THREADED APPLICATIONS

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – June 6, 2007 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) recently announced compiler and tools technologies for both Solaris(TM) and GNU/Linux platforms, allowing developers to take full advantage of the recent advances in multi-core and multithreading applications.

In addition, Sun Studio 12 provides C, C++ and Fortran compilers and an advanced suite of static and dynamic tools for memory debugging, application profiling and multi-core optimizations, as well as, libraries targeting the high performance market. Sun is collaborating closely with both Intel and AMD to ensure that Sun Studio compilers and libraries take full advantage of the Quad-Core AMD Opteron(TM) processor, code-named “Barcelona” and the Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor 5300 series.
