IBM辦Blades World 2007大會

IBM sharpens local businesses’ edge with Blades World 2007

Petaling Jaya, 3 July 2007 – IBM Malaysia is organizing an exclusive event, Blades World 2007 themed ‘Out with cables, In with Blades’ to help chief information officers and information technology (IT) managers to make the right IT decisions that will drive business success. Participants will gain insight on management challenges and technological complexity such as space constraints, power and cooling limitations, heterogeneous environments and I/O connectivity issues.

“Around the world, companies are rejecting the stress of sprawling, cable-choked racks and choosing a simpler alternative. The IBM BladeCenter can be more efficient than traditional rack servers. As solution size and complexity have grown, customers asked how they could keep pace with IT sprawl. IBM BladeCenter was engineered to reduce complexity by reducing the number of tools and access points needed to manage the solution. Why manage hundreds of servers, dozens of switches, and networking devices when you could manage just a handful of BladeCenters,” said Azlina Mohd Ariff, Country Brand Manager, System x, System Technology Group, IBM Malaysia.

Local companies are also concern with power control and cooling environment to minimize environmental impacts. IBM BladeCenter offers energy-efficient designs and powerful Cool Blue tools to help plan, monitor, control, and allocate power consumption and cooling. All this helps organizations to be more environmentally responsible, she added.
IBM's award-winning blades can run differing operating systems and applications, while sharing the same chassis. IBM offers Intel Xeon-based, AMD Opteron-based and IBM Power-based blade servers.

Last year, more than 40 technology leaders including IBM and Intel announced the official formation of Blade.org, an open community that will develop and advance next-generation technologies for blades.

“There’s a clear call in the industry today to create blades that are ever more energy efficient at ever higher densities, demanded by enterprises of all types and sizes,” said Adesh Gupta, Regional Platform Architecture Manager, Server Platform Group, Intel Corporation. “In a short space of time, the collaborative environment of Blade.org, along with the developer community, has quickly forged newer, innovative multi-core blade platforms that address many of the challenges today. That’s surely a great start.” Adesh Gupta will also be speaking at the event on IT optimization.

Intel is one of the major sponsors of the event. Other valued IBM partners including VMWare, Infotech Distribution System, Millennium Radius, Celestra Network Communications and Biztari Technocraft will also be showcasing their latest leading edge solutions at the event.

The half day event will be held on 12 July at the new One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya where companies will also get a free IT infrastructure assessment, alongside the chance to win an IT upgrade worth US$10,000.
