Nokia推展KAMI電視節目特輯

The Latest Music. The Best Bands. The Story You Can’t Miss.

Kuala Lumpur, August 8, 2007 – Nokia, in association with Malaysia’s urban TV station - 8TV, Monkey Bone and Redfilms have joined forces to tell the story of a group of youngsters set against the backdrop of the Malaysian independent music scene in an innovative multi-platform project called KAMI.

KAMI is based on writer and director, Fizzi and Fendi’s experience and insights after years of involvement in the Malaysian independent music scene. Together with Executive Producer, Lina Tan, the creative force behind Redfilms, the three of them came up with KAMI - The Movie, a theatrical film scheduled for 2008 release which tells a compelling story of a group of 5 friends whose lives are linked together by their love of music. Preceding the movie, KAMI - The Series, an 8-part TV mini-series will air on 8TV. Both the movie and the TV series will not only have an engaging story with insights into the independent music scene, it will also feature, as an integral part of the experience, music from the best in groundbreaking Malaysian bands today.

In fact, with its focus on the music scene, the KAMI project, will kick off with 3 gigs in 3 cities called KAMI – The Gigs. This concert series will feature the latest in Malaysian music including bands such as Estranged, Love Me Butch, Couple, Nitrus, The Times, Bittersweet, One Buck Short, Pop Shuvit, Gerhana Ska Cinta, OAG and introducing Meet Uncle Hussein. The same bands will also be featured in a compilation album called KAMI – The Album.

“We are extremely excited to be involved in KAMI where we are able to promote amazing new Malaysian music for the enjoyment of all,” said Ahmad Izham Omar, 8TV Chief Executive Officer and Monkey Bone Director, who was present at the launch of the KAMI album and concert series.

“There is this revolutionary new sound and buzz in the Malaysian music scene recently and the bands that are going on tour on the KAMI platform captures this vibe perfectly. These bands have a new sound and songs, musicianship and production we believe are on par with any bands from around the region,” he continued.

“We are extremely excited as to the direction where these bands are taking us and we know KAMI will be able to perfectly capture this historic musical journey through concerts, an album, a TV show and a movie. I am sure many years from now, people will look back to these days and realized something big was happening in the music scene. I do believe we are on the threshold of something new and KAMI will enable everyone to be part of this experience. I applaud Nokia for supporting such a great project like KAMI. Not many brands out there have the foresight like Nokia to know that we are all on something here.” he enthused.

“Nokia has always championed youth platforms, which makes Project KAMI the perfect fit with Nokia’s commitment towards empowering youths and providing them with a avenue for self expression through music sharing and experiencing live gigs together. KAMI’s focus on everyday youths and their lifestyle strongly supports our involvement with this target audience, and reflects how mobile devices have become such an integral part of the youth lifestyle whether for entertainment, social life or information,” said Geraldine Wong, Marketing Manager, Customer and Market Operations, Nokia Malaysia.
Wong also added that, in fact, Nokia is a familiar face with its involvement in youth programmes. Not too long ago, Nokia Nseries initiated the “You Make It Reel” programme where young mobile filmmakers were given an opportunity to collaborate with top local music stars on their music video shoots. Other youth projects include Upstart Arts Awards, AND1 Streetball Challenge and Defend Your Turf! These are firm testaments to Nokia’s support and efforts in promoting a healthy lifestyle among youths.

“The KAMI theme song Lagu Untukmu and La La La Kerjalah by new band “Meet Uncle Hussein” exemplifies this revolutionary new sound and sets the mood for the series. Its that kind of edginess that will be reflected in the series and subsequently the movie, “ said Lina Tan, Executive Producer of the series and the movie.
