BRR以Autodesk Geospatial方案助Acer重建

BRR Implements Autodesk Geospatial Solution to Help Rebuilding of Aceh-Nias

Cuts Costs by 95 Percent, Reduces Work Schedules By 50 Percent, through Enhancing Inter-agency Work Coordination

Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, September 18, 2007 – The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Board of Indonesia (BRR) announced that it has reduced its costs of geospatial data development, implementation, and distribution by 95 percent, and doubled work efficiency, by implementing a user-friendly Geospatial Information System (GIS) solution provided by design software Autodesk.

The BRR’s mission in Aceh-Nias is to provide housing for hundreds of thousands people who were displaced as a result of the December 2005 tsunami, and to rebuild destroyed infrastructure systems. BRR’s use of Autodesk Geospatial solutions made a big difference in this mission.

“In the past, we could only distribute our extensive inventory of spatial data and maps offline or by providing hardcopy paper maps, which was time consuming and costly, and also highly frustrating for the agencies and organizations waiting for the information,” says Mulyanto Darmawan, Head of BRR’s Geospatial Task Force. “These constraints limited the use of our geospatial resources, and, as a result, the Aceh-Nias reconstruction process suffered delays.”

After evaluating GIS software provided by several vendors, BRR finally decided to use Enterprise, Autodesk’s Geospatial solution consisting of Autodesk MapGuide , and Autodesk Consulting services. Map 3D AutoCAD

“Autodesk MapGuide® Enterprise was the most user-friendly software we evaluated,” says Darmawan. “The rich-featured web-mapping software lets us instantly download spatial data and high-definition maps directly from a centralized database, which saves us at least four hours a day.” Meanwhile, for basic mapping tasks the BRR uses AutoCAD® Map 3D® which skills and training, enabling them to take leverage’s the team’s AutoCAD advantage of traditional GIS tools and functions. Autodesk Consulting services also equips the BRR team with free training on how to use WebGIS.

WebGIS, a single Web-based system to download spatial information directly from BRR’s database, is currently available through an inter-agency intranet and within a year BRR plans to launch it to a wider external audience. The WebGIS allows partners and stakeholders to submit and retrieve comments, feedback, and data updates to and from the BRR.

“The NAD-Nias tsunami was a major disaster. Autodesk is extremely pleased to be able to contribute our expertise for the reconstruction of Aceh and Nias,” said Bayu Wedha, Country Manager, Autodesk Indonesia. “We hope that Autodesk’s Geospatial solutions, together with our dedicated consulting team, can enhance inter-agency cooperation in sharing GIS data and accelerate reconstruction in Aceh and Nias.”

At the end of 2009, the BRR will transfer all operations and systems to the Aceh and Nias governments. By the end of four years of BRR’s work, these regions will be able to use the systems to continue reconstructing the housing. “We fully expect the WebGIS will be fully operational by the end of 2007 – two years earlier than planned,” Darmawan adds.
