Maybank In Tie-up With Microsoft for Enterprise-Wide Desktop Solution

Maybank and Microsoft Malaysia today signed an Enterprise Subscription Agreement that will further enhance cost efficiency in the adoption of a common software toolset for Maybank's desktop applications as well as promote greater communication among employees and customers.
The partnership with Microsoft provides Maybank with better negotiated pricing for Microsoft suite of desktop solutions including Microsoft Office. It also offers price protection for the more than 15,000 licences Maybank will utilise. With the Agreement, Maybank enjoys cost saving of over RM40 million over a seven year period.
Dato' Mohammed Hussein, Deputy President and Chief Financial Officer of Maybank signed on behalf of Maybank while Microsoft Malaysia was represented by its Managing Director, Yasmin Mahmood.
In his address, Dato' Mohammed Hussein said that Maybank has always placed a very high emphasis on the need to invest in new technology to increase efficiency and productivity of our employees, and to facilitate a repository of knowledge and being able to share that knowledge across the organisation.
“We strongly believe that effective knowledge sharing is a source of competitive advantage, because it leads to a wider pool of knowledgeable employees which will result in better customer service,” he said.
“Microsoft is a global brand for software solutioning and this partnership will enable us to leverage on benchmark applications to drive growth and innovation for our organisation and among our employees respectively,” he added.
He also said that Microsoft’s support will provide better security of Maybank's desktop and network resources. “Maybank will gain benefits from obtaining enhanced upgrades at lower costs as well as transfer of technology and skills to employees to enable us to better manage our support systems effectively as well as create a conducive environment for employees to be innovative on how they carry out their day-to-day tasks,” said Dato' Mohammed Hussein.
“As a responsible organisation, Maybank adheres to the highest level of ethical standards and integrity including accountability in our business activities. This also applies to Maybank's IT policy particularly for our desktop applications where only licenced software is used. Today’s agreement reinforces Maybank's commitment to protect, safeguard and manage our intellectual property as the tools that we use to create, invent and innovate are legal.”
