馬來西亞人非常擔心身份失竊

Malaysians continue to record high levels of concern around Identity Theft, Fraud and Health Issues

Kuala Lumpur, 20 November, 2007 – Despite a slight fall in the overall Unisys Security Index TM for Malaysia, residents continue to express high levels of concern about a range of security issues.

The Unisys Security Index for November 2007 has decreased 3 points and now stands at 171, although Malaysia remains in the top 4*1 ranked nations out of the 14 countries where the Unisys Security Index is conducted. The key Index results for November are:

§ National Security – 195
§ Financial Security – 172
§ Internet Security – 125
§ Personal security – 193

Identity Theft, financial fraud and fears of a health epidemic remain the top 3 concerns held by Malaysian residents, a trend which has been repeated since the Unisys Security Index was launched in Malaysia in 2006.

The number one concern of Malaysians centres on identity theft with 78% of people either extremely or very concerned about this issue, up 3 percentage points against the previous Index result.

Financial fraud is the second most concerning issue for Malaysians with 74% extremely or very concerned about other people obtaining or using their credit and or debit card details, down 1 percentage point against the previous result.

The third highest scoring issue relates to the potential outbreak of a health epidemic with 72% of Malaysians extremely or very concerned about this issue, up 1 percentage point against the previous survey.

“The results of the fourth Unisys Security Index for Malaysia clearly show that rather than being eased, levels of concern about key security issues such as Identity Theft and Financial Fraud remain high,” said Scott Whyman, Vice President and General Manager of Unisys Asia South.

“These results are an important message for all business and government organisations in Malaysia that more needs to be done to educate and inform the public on the initiatives both planned and in place to create a more secure environment in Malaysia,” he added.

The Unisys Security Index provides a unique insight into the attitudes of Malaysian residents on a wide range of security related issues.

Organisations and governments today confront potential security threats that didn’t exist a decade ago, or, if they did, were not seen as such a pressing concern. These security threats are global and their effects impact individuals on a daily basis. Unisys approach to security goes beyond ‘bits and bytes’ recognising that there are a broad set of political, economic and consumer forces that impact the security ‘ecosystem’. We believe that the most effective solutions are going to be those formed through collaboration across interests, sectors, borders and geographies
