MSC Malaysia Supports 2nd Annual Asia Pacific Software Testing Conference
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – February 25, 2008 – The 2nd Annual Asia Pacific Software Testing Conference aims to introduce proven and emerging techniques, methodologies, best practices, standards, innovations, benefits, return on investment (ROI) and the payback from software testing; and is a meeting point for practitioners, vendors, service providers, consultants, experts and academicians in the field of software testing.
This year, the Asia Pacific Software Testing Conference is organised by Processworks Sdn. Bhd, a local IT consulting company, and is being supported by MSC Malaysia and Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC). The conference is being held in Kuala Lumpur from February 25 – 29, 2008, at Concorde Hotel.
“Malaysia is pursuing the goal of becoming a nation with world-class ICT companies. By adopting global best practices and process improvements in software testing, Malaysian ICT companies will enhance their abilities to produce and rapidly deliver high quality software applications. This improves their competitive edge in global markets,” said Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Vice President and Head of Capacity Development Division Ng Wan Peng who will be delivering a keynote address at the conference.
Software testing is still at a developing stage in Malaysia with many local ICT companies doing testing in-house as part of their software development life cycle. MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme established the CDP Software Testing programme to furnish assistance to MSC Malaysia Status software development companies and raise their standards of software testing.
The CDP Software Testing programme assists participating companies to adopt a structured software testing framework and global software testing best practices in the most comprehensive and cost-effective manner. Participants can also earn the Software Product Performance Certification which is a performance testing certification that quantifies the "Performance" quality attribute of their product.
“The CDP Software Testing programme has proven its value to the companies that have participated in it. Previously, Pentasoft Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., an MSC Malaysia Status company that provides insurance software and service and allocated 30-40% of their software development time to testing. After completing the CDP Software Testing programme in 2007, Pentasoft informed us that their development time has been reduced by 20% and that the quality index of their product has improved by four times. This is a sterling testament to the value and effectiveness of the CDP Software Testing programme,” said Ng.
“The Asia Pacific Software Testing Conference will help Malaysian ICT companies become more aware of the methodologies, concepts and trends in software testing and impart to them the value of adopting global standards in order to become more competitive in world markets. These are some of the goals of the MSC Capability Development Programme and MDeC very pleased to be a supporting organization of this conference,” she added.
“The theme of the 2nd Annual Asia Pacific Software Testing Conference is 'Techniques, Methods and ROI.' Speakers at the conference will discuss a wide range of topics, among them Test Strategy, Agile Testing, Test Measurements, Defect Analysis and Test Management,” said Processworks Managing Director Vishal Manghani.
“Attendees will learn about ways to make their software testing better, faster and cheaper. And they will be able to take the knowledge they acquire at the conference and use it to make their companies even more successful than they already are,” he added.
