Nokia辦Nokia N82 Soul of The Night大賽

Discover the Soul of The Night with the new Nokia N82

Kuala Lumpur – What’s unique about Malaysia’s night life? Find out with the just-announced Nokia Nseries Soul of the Night City Guide at www.nseries.com/soulofthenight! This unique platform enables users to discover, capture and share the best night time entertainment, activities and little-known locations in their cities across Malaysia through their mobile devices.

This initiative comes together with the new Nokia N82, Nokia’s latest multimedia computer that takes the mobile photography to a whole new level. The Nokia N82 allows users to take good quality images at night, find new locations and instantaneously share images over the internet with their friends.

Think you’ve found the best satay stall in Malaysia? Snap a picture, put in the location and share it instantly throught the SOTN City Guide. Just came back from a great party? Upload your pictures on the site so others can see. The SOTN City Guide cultivates the spirit of discovery and community amongst Malaysians to truly define the unique nature of night-time in Malaysia.

Uncovering Malaysia’s best-kept secrets

Every secret needs a guide to unlock it, so SOTN kicks off with the introduction of six SOTN ambassadors* – namely local bloggers Boo_licious (http://masak-masak.blogspot.com), KY (http://www.kyspeaks.com) and dizzy_firefly (http://liy.vox.com), freelance writer Adrian Yap, theatre producer Penny Low and freelance food writer Alvin Wales.

The Soul of the Night ambassadors will act as ‘guides’ to Malaysia after-hours, and will share their “discoveries” – new activities, places of interest and events – through the SOTN City Guide. Curious adventurers looking to discover new things to do at night can browse the discoveries made by the SOTN ambassadors simply by surfing over to the SOTN City Guide.

But that’s not all! Anyone can get in on the action too and share their very own discoveries by registering themselves on the SOTN City Guide website. Registered users can upload images of their places they’ve discovered, write a short description about that place and record location information. They can also “Tell a friend” about their new locations, post comments and check out where other people like to hang out.

Nokia Nseries users have the added convenience of opting to download a special Soul of the Night application that will allow them to instantly upload their pictures via WiFi or 3G wherever they are.

Andrew Cheong, Managing Director, Nokia Malaysia said, “The Soul of the Night initiative is our way of extending the photography experience. At Nokia, we strongly believe in creating new experiences for our customers; not just delivering more megapixels or a xenon flash, but by really harnessing technology to create a compelling experience.”

“The Soul of the Night City Guide is an open platform for the man-in-the-street to contribute his own discoveries and post photos of his favourite locations in their cities. It isn’t just about the usual touristy spots or commercial venues. It encompasses all these plus the nooks and crannies which only locals know. It could be a place to catch the best view of the city or an interesting drawing on a wall, a hip hang-out, or a favourite mamak or roadside stall; Nokia invites the public to share the true soul of their cities with others around the world,” he added.

The Nokia Nseries Wireless Adventure returns – at Night!

As part of SOTN initiative, Nokia Nseries also announced that it will be organizing the sequel to its highly successful Nokia Nseries Wireless Adventure. The Nokia Wireless Adventure 2: ‘Discover the Soul of the Night’ race will challenge members of the public to race around the streets of Kuala Lumpur in search for the ‘coolest’ and ‘best-hidden’ gems in Kuala Lumpur’s night life.

To participate in this nocturnal adventure, all you have to do is surf over to www.nseries.com/soulofthenight, register as a member, and sign-up for the race. Eight lucky participants will be chosen to discover the Soul of the Night and stand a chance to win a Nokia N82 and a trip to Hong Kong for two.

The closing date to sign-up is March 25, 2008 and the selected participants will be notified via email.

Not just Malaysia, it’s about discoveries across Asia!

Think you’ve discovered everything there is to find in Malaysia?

The Nokia Nseries Soul of the Night initiative spans six countries across Asia Pacific - Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Similar programmes will be rolled out across the each of the six countries with consumers in each market being encouraged to go out, discover, capture and share.

So, what are you waiting for? Surf over to www.nseries.com/soulofthenight and start sharing now.

About Soul of the Night Ambassadors

Kar Yeong @ KY
KY is the person behind www.KYspeaks.com. He started this blog slightly three years ago without a clear objective. However, over the years it has slowly morphed into a site proliferated with plenty of food related posts (243 and counting!). KY also lends a hand to budding epicureans by including maps and location descriptions in an attempt to guide his readers to the food joint in a more visual way.

Liyana Yusof @ Dizzyfirefly
Liyana Yusof is a 20-year old biotechnology student, photographer, corporate-scriptwriter and poet. Her collection of poetry and prose has been published three times (MPH, British Council, herself). Recently, she performed readings around KL, the Singapore Writers Festival '07 and was a winner in DiGi’s Apostrophe 16-word short story competition. She blogs at www.liy.vox.com.

Lee Khang Yi @ Boolicious
Boo Lee or boo_licious, as she is better known, loves everything related to food. Ever since 2005, she has chronicled her good food finds in her blog, http://masak-masak.blogspot.com. Originally a blog about her attempt to cook better, it now includes pictures and comments about restaurants or stalls she discover. As long as the food is good, she has no qualms to try it, whether it is in a classy joint or just a simple back lane stall. Currently attached to a local publication, she is still very enthusiastic about searching for new places, especially since she discovered the handy GPS function on her Nokia N82.

Adrian Yap
Adrian, often know as The Geek, likes to see himself as a writer. He has written for a wide range of entertainment publications such as Junk, The Star, All the R.age, Think, Hot and has had one article published in popular international music site Popmatters.com. When he has free time, he runs an mp3 blog called Pirates of the Bargain Bin (www.piratesofthebargainbin.blogspot.com) with his friends. He has played in bands for about 13 years now and thinks he should quit soon and start putting more money in trust funds.

Alvin J Wales
Alvin is an avid food lover who enjoys the taste and aesthetics that comes with good flavourable food. He enjoys devouring good food regardless of whether or not it’s a hawker fare or food served at a five-star dining outlet. His passion for food has led this foodie to various spots in search for gastronomical delights that is not only palatable but also a feast for the eyes. He previously contributed as a food / restaurant critic and is a freelance reviewer for local publications.

Penny Low
Penny Low is in Sociology and Media and she was the Academic Head of Advertising in a local marketing communications college. She is now a Creative Consultant with a film and production agency. Her scriptwriting abilities bagged her a silver award in the Malaysian Video Awards last year. Penny’s experience in theatre includes Language of Our Own (Actors Studio) and Jiang Qing – The Story of Madam Mao (Kai Production) for which she was Composer and Music Director. She is also the founder and music director of Malaysia’s pioneer all-woman a cappella group – LiT Performers. To date she has also directed a couple of Musical Dramas (notably Girl From Ipoh and Rose, Rose I Love You) and other corporate gigs including the sold-out musical dramas Memories for Sale in 2003 and Christmas Belles in 2004.
