Motorola Appoints New Head for its Consumer Business in Asia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 2 July 2008 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the appointment of Ian Chapman-Banks as Corporate Vice-President and General Manager of its Mobile Devices Business in Asia. Reporting directly to Bruce Brda, head of worldwide sales and operations, Chapman-Banks will be responsible for driving the growth of Motorola’s Mobile Devices business in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Indian sub-continent, and Australasia. Chapman-Banks will be based in Singapore.
Prior to this appointment, Chapman-Banks was the Vice President of Marketing for Motorola’s Mobile Devices Business in Asia Pacific. In that role, he successfully led the Asia-Pacific Marketing teams in developing, localizing and implementing marketing strategies across the region. He was also part of the Motorola’s World-Wide Marketing Council which is responsible for driving the company’s brand positioning worldwide.

“Asia is a very important market for Motorola and we are pleased to have such a seasoned executive like Ian to helm our mobile devices business in the region,” said Brda. “As the head of marketing in Asia-Pacific for the last three years, Ian demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and helped Motorola grow its brand equity and achieve success across the region.”

Chapman-Banks also led the effort to build Motorola's presence in services in the region, launching the successful Motomusic mobile music and Motogames services in Greater China, and overseeing Motorola's recent acquisition of Soundbuzz, an Asian online music and entertainment service.

Chapman-Banks is not new to Asia, having lived and worked in the region for more than 12 years. Prior to joining Motorola, he held senior marketing positions at Microsoft’s Home and Entertainment Division and Apple with Asia-Pacific portfolios. Chapman-Banks holds an MBA from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business, U.S. and a Bachelor degree in Applied Science from the United Kingdom.
