Sophos grows from strength to strength with new customer wins in Singapore and Malaysia

Consistent market share gain through competitive displacements validates Sophos’s leading capacity in meeting customer needs

Singapore. July 7, 2008 – Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today announced new customer wins in Singapore and Malaysia.

Multinational advertising firm TBWA has implemented Sophos Endpoint Security and Control solutions and the WS1000 web appliance to provide integrated protection for its Singapore office against malware threats. Similarly, Tanglin Trust School, a premier provider of British-style education for pre-school and college students, has also entrusted Sophos to protect its IT systems and corporate network with Sophos Endpoint Security and Control on a multi-year license.

Fujitsu Asia, an existing customer of Sophos, has deployed the WS1000 web appliance at the Internet gateway to provide integrated protection against malware and unwanted web content, on top of Sophos PureMessage, the existing integrated gateway and messaging security solution.

While in Malaysia, the Selayang Municipal Council in Selangor state has inked a deal with Sophos to displace its legacy security systems with Sophos WS1000 web appliance, ES1000 email appliance and Sophos Endpoint Security and Control solutions.

Commenting on the new wins, Jim Dowling, Director of Sales for Asia at Sophos said, “Our consistent gain in market share through competitive displacements across Southeast Asia has clearly demonstrated we are better at addressing the growing market demand for a broader, yet simple, integrated solution to manage the increased security complexity of the corporate network, than any other enterprise-class antivirus vendor. This is testament to our commitment in achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction in the industry and ensuring consistent growth going forward.”

Sophos has successfully capitalised on the growing market demand for broader integrated security solutions, a demand driven by the increased complexity of both the corporate network and the desire for organisations to simplify their security solutions, through enhancing its overall product line in recent months. These enhancements included the incorporation of network access control (NAC) functionality with Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 8, as well as upgrade releases of its software and appliance offerings.

“We were impressed with not just the performance of the Sophos security systems but also how easy it is to use and maintain them on a day-to-day basis. Integration with the existing IT infrastructure was a breeze as well,” said Neo Boon Chye, Senior Manager, Regional IT and Corporate Network, Fujitsu Asia. “With the implementation of PureMessage, we have since received far less requests and complaints from the users. We are certain the addition of the WS1000 web appliance will benefit them even further.”

Sophos was placed in the Leaders’ Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms in 2007 by Gartner in recognition of its leading industry position in offering best-in-class protection for endpoint devices. It also recently received a ‘positive’ rating, the highest marks given to any vendor by Gartner, in the MarketScope for Network Access Control 2008 report.
