Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - November 11, 2008 — NetApp, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that it has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts in the debut of an employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe. NetApp was ranked 46 on the overall list and was listed as number 20 on the Top 40 Small Workplaces list1. The Globe 100’s Top Places to Work magazine was published in the Sunday Globe on November 9, 2008, and can be viewed online at www.boston.com/topworkplaces.

NetApp has been in the Boston area since 2000. In 2005, the company expanded operations with the opening of a 35,000 square foot office in Waltham. Early in 2008, NetApp added another 25,000 square feet to its Waltham facility and currently employs 205 people in the region. NetApp’s Waltham office encompasses a broad spectrum of business disciplines, including sales, engineering, product management, marketing, facilities, and human resources. The Globe 100’s Top Places to Work magazine highlights NetApp’s Volunteer Time Off program (VTO) for bringing community service to a new level. The VTO program offers full-time employees five days of paid time off a year to volunteer at a community organization of their choice. As recognized in the magazine, “between August 2007 and April 2008, 755 NetApp employees across the United States donated 9,936 hours to volunteer with their favorite charities, resulting in in-kind donations valued at $556,671.”
In addition to being ranked in the Globe 100’s Top Places to Work, NetApp has made FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list every year since 2002.
Produced by the same team that compiles the 21-year-old Globe 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Massachusetts, Top Places to Work recognizes the most progressive companies in the state based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity and inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics. Private companies and nonprofits as well as publicly held businesses are included in the analysis.
The rankings in the Globe 100’s Top Places to Work are based on survey information collected by WorkplaceDynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from 120,000 employees at about 300 Massachusetts organizations. This is the first time that a Globe 100 report honors private as well as publicly held organizations.

To qualify for the Globe 100’s Top Places to Work, a company must have more than 100 employees in Massachusetts. Nearly 300 qualified companies accepted an invitation to participate. Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses.
