MAC + iPOD DISCOVERY WEEK ENCHANTS ALL WITH THE WONDERS OF MACS, iPODS & APPLE SOFTWARE

Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2008: It was a super weekend outing for some KL residents who visited the Mac + iPod Discovery Week roadshow held at Pavilion KL from 13th to 16th November. It was a thoroughly delightful and hands-on way to explore the funnest and most exciting features of the Macs and iPods, helped along by the ever-attentive Mac and iPod evangelists.

The event, the first leg in a series of planned roadshows, was organised by EpiCentre, an Apple Authorised Premium Reseller located at Pavilion KL. EpiCentre showcased a wide range of exciting products ranging from the recently launched MacBook family to the latest iPod range, also not forgetting Apple’s lifestyle software suite iLife. Other products on sale included professional and productivity software and various accessories compatible with Apple’s range of products. Many accessories were sold at a very attractive price, with discounts up to 90%, to celebrate EpiCentre’s 1st Anniversary in Malaysia.
True to EpiCentre’s vision, i.e. “We’re not here to sell you an iPod or Mac, we’re here to help you love it”, EpiCentre gladdened the hearts of many a Mac and iPod owner with their dedicated free clinic for Macs and iPod check-ups. The clinic, also called a Spa, attracted a long line of visitors eager to ensure the health and optimum working conditions of their beloved Apple companion and indeed solved many problems and erased many worries.

Many visitors also made a beeline for the photography booth, which featured Apple’s iPhoto photo-editing software. Made possible with the professional services of photographers from Ecazstudio, the free photography service attracted young and old, friends and families alike, and all were very pleased to take home a free A4 sized print on photo paper. The booth was also supported by the use of the latest digital SLR cameras from Leica and a free makeup service by The Body Shop.

Also attracting crowd attention was a recording studio set-up featuring Apple’s GarageBand and Logic music composition software and using Roland professional music equipment. Visitors got the chance to drum up a storm and play rocking riffs on an electric guitar, all connected to a Mac. There was also a professional microphone set-up for aspiring vocalists to mock-record a tune or two.

For auto enthusiasts, Sapura Auto brought in their sexy Mini Cooper fitted with an iPod. The company also ran a promotion offering a complimentary 8GB iPod touch for every Mini owner who signed up to ‘iPod their Mini’ during the roadshow.

To further liven up the event and add to the festive atmosphere, the organisers arranged for several Mac-using indie musicians to perform on Saturday and Sunday from 3.30pm to 5.50pm, with coordination by Junk magazine. Visitors were treated to the musical skills of Sei Hon, Qings and Kueens, and Otam on Saturday, whilst Sunday saw Paolo Delfino, Yuna and Couple taking the stage. The audience on Sunday also saw a GarageBand demonstration by members of the band Couple.

There were also free workshops for the public on the many amazing features of Macs in the cinema-style Black Box booth. Visitors also had the chance to test-drive an iPod for up to 2 hours on loan, while they shopped or hung out at a café. Those who completed a feedback survey on the roadshow also stood a chance of winning an iPod.

Street dancers from Street Nation Dance Studio also delighted the public outside Pavilion KL and around the Bukit Bintang shopping area as they danced and showed off funky moves on the streets on Friday and Saturday, stirring additional excitement for the Mac+iPod Discovery Week.

Klang Valley residents who missed this exciting event need not fret. The next Mac + iPod Discovery Week will be held from 17th to 21st December at 1-Utama Shopping Centre (Ground Floor, High Street, New Wing, in front of GAP)
