VIEWSONIC MAKES IT EASIER TO BE GREEN

Through Energy-Efficient Products and Corporate Responsibility, Customers Can Feel Good About ViewSonic Products and the Environment

Malaysia, 3 Nov 2008 – ViewSonic® Corp. has launched a new campaign focused on its commitment to conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner. By designing energy-efficient products and adopting recycling programs that reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills, ViewSonic has taken steps toward a more eco-friendly approach.

ViewSonic has built energy-saving features into all of its products, aimed at helping customers not only save energy, but to save them money as well. All of the company’s displays are ENERGY STAR® compliant, and all displays released since July of 2008 will feature a power-saving Eco Mode that offers up to 56 percent energy savings. In addition, the LCD technology in ViewSonic’s TVs and digital signage products uses up to 40 percent less electricity than a plasma product of the same size.

Starting with product design, ViewSonic strives to reduce the waste associated with its product lifecycle. Product design now includes a recyclable plastic and a screw-free assembly, which reduces the number of parts on a given product, and makes disassembly for recycling more efficient.

ViewSonic has also received EPEAT Silver Certification on 30 of its displays, which is given to products that reduce toxic materials and waste, are mercury-free, and feature reduced energy consumption. “We’ve been incorporating environmentally responsible decisions into our corporate culture and will continue to find new ways to enhance our green efforts,” said Jeff Volpe, vice president of Global Brand and ViewSonic Americas CE Product Division. “As more consumers and businesses are taking the environmental impact into account when making purchasing decisions, ViewSonic recognizes the importance in meeting these needs.”

The company is taking steps to ensure its day-to-day operations are environmentally responsible as well. Seventeen percent of the energy used to power the company’s headquarters in Walnut, Calif. comes from renewable energy sources. In the last five years alone, the company has saved more than 1.3 million pounds of waste from going into landfills.
