COMIC FIESTA 2008 ON TRACK!

Come December, Comic Fiesta 2008 (CF’08), will make another big showing, this time at Sunway Convention Centre with more exciting activities.

Petaling Jaya, Dec 15: This Christmas season, keep 20 and 21 December open as Malaysia’s largest annual fan-organised comic convention, Comic Fiesta 2008 (CF’08), will open its doors once again to the public. Located in Sunway Convention Centre this year, the event promises to be big in every way.

Riding on the success of last year’s event, CF’08 is set to rock the convention centre, offering more things to see and do. On top of the usual art, cosplay and comic competitions, the event will also have live art demonstrations with guest artists hailing from internationally acclaimed organisations such as Imaginary Friends Studio (Singapore) and The One Academy.

There will also be specially allocated art galleries in CF’08, showcasing some of the best works of the local art community. Interestingly, there are also some foreign works in there too, sourced from around the region namely Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

For those who want more to do than look at just works, there is also the PC.com Game Corner, featuring games of all sorts for people to try. From console videogames to PC-based online games, there’s certainly a game for everyone. Videogame demos for previewing purposes, highlighting the games of the year as well as exciting games for coming 2009 will also be showcased at the convention.

Local talent, meanwhile, can expect something new this year round. In wanting to help grow the creative content industry, CF’08 has created a new sub-event, called the Portfolio Review Pavilion, a place where talents from all over the country, and then some, can bring their works to show to industry players who will be present there. This includes Animasia Studios, Imaginary Friends Studios of Singapore, Foldees, GempakStarz, Eden Animation, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and more. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for those who seek to break into the creative industry and earn, firsthand, invaluable working experience.
HP and AMD will also jointly present a Comic Fiesta Charity Coffee Table book entitled “Animation Comes to Live: An Exclusive Collection of Anime Artwork” in CF’ 08. This 50 pages coffee table book features 30 artworks from renowned local talents such as Santa Fung, Maxsterism, Puppeteer, Ho Seng Hui, Alan Quah and other local amateur talents. Grab a copy of this exclusive local anime artwork collection only at RM15.

Sponsors for this event include world’s largest technology company Hewlett-Packard Malaysia Sdn Bhd (HP), other heavyweights such as AMD, Animax, PC.com and Ge mpak, to retail partners like SunComics, Comic Paradise, and Shiseido. Even animation studios and comic production houses have joined up with the likes of Animasia Studios and Imaginary Friends Studios hopping on the bandwagon.
