D-Link DCS-3415 Internet Camera garners 2009 iF Award

DCS-3415 Surveillance Camera Receives International Forum Product Design Award for 2009

Malaysia, 12 February 2009 – D-Link, a leading provider of networking and communication solutions, has received the prestigious iF (International Forum) Product Design Award for the company's DCS-3415 network camera – the first time that the networking company has received an award for its network camera range of products. A high-end network camera designed for deployment in professional environments that require surveillance and security, the DCS-3415 was chosen for a user-friendly yet modern design that houses the high-tech network camera features such as a progressive scan sensor and Sony 18x optical zoom lens in a small form factor that measures just 80mm x 92.4mm x 143.5mm.

"With over 2808 entries submitted by 1025 contestants from 39 countries, the competition this year was extremely competitive," said Mr Desmond Toh, Marketing Director of D-Link International Pte Ltd. "We are very delighted that the DCS-3415 rose above the rest to receive such a prestigious award."

3G capability for instant surveillance on the go
The 3G-enabled DCS-3415 is a network camera that offers recording abilities ideal for surveillance and security. These include the Sony 18x Optical Zoom lens and progressive scan CCD sensor, which allows the DCS-3415 to capture moving objects that traditional interlaced scanning techniques cannot achieve. Both unique features effectively reduce motion blur and distorted edges of recorded images, delivering exceptional picture quality. 3GPP Mobile Surveillance support allows users to view a live video feed from compatible Internet-ready mobile phone while on the go.

Automatic light sensitive recording
Featuring a built-in IR Cut Removable (ICR) filter that provides automatic day/night recording functionality with a minimum illumination of 0.38 lux, the DCS-3415 is able to adjust the captured image from colour during the day and in low light conditions to monochrome at night. With features such as simultaneous MPEG-4/MJPEG streaming, multicast MPEG-4 streaming, as well as a built-in Compact Flash card slot, the DCS-3415 is an extremely versatile solution to meet any 24-hour surveillance needs.

Flexible connectivity to optional devices
Besides digital input and output ports for connectivity to external devices such as IR sensors, switches and alarm relays, the DCS-3415 also comes with a RS-485 interface, enabling it to be connected to a Pan/Tilt enclosure for added panning and tilting features. A 12V interface also provides power for an optional LED illuminator.

Direct connection to NAS
The D-ViewCam 2.0 software allows up to 32 network cameras to be connected and managed, while the built-in SAMBA client provides direct connection to a network attached storage for easy capturing and transferring of images. Equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, the DCS-3415 can receive both power and data over a single Ethernet cable, without the need for a power outlet. It also features a built-in microphone and audio ports, allowing two-way audio communication when an external speaker is connected. An audio switch ensures privacy when needed.

The DCS-3415, along with the other selected iF Design Award-winners, will be on display at the iF Design Exhibition, which will be held from March 3 to August, 2009 at Hanover, German. In addition, the network camera will also take part in the iF Online Exhibition, which can be located on the organization's website.

Every year, the International Forum Design organization receives an average of 2,000 entries from countries all over the world. The entries are then hand-selected by the iF Design Jury, picking a number of entries that fit the standards of the organization.

Availability
The D-Link DCS-3415 will be available in February 2009 at a recommended retail price of RM5800 through authorized retail, reseller, and distribution partners.
