Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – April 16, 2009 – Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), the driver of MSC Malaysia initiative, held the Closing and Prize Giving Ceremony of the MSC Malaysia Management Game 2009 today at Putrajaya International Convention Centre. Teams from ten MSC Malaysia Status companies participated in the two-day competition, which is the first computer-simulated management game organized by MDeC, with the team from Les' Copaque Production Sdn. Bhd. emerging as the winners.

“The MSC Malaysia Management Game 2009 is an innovative and entertaining way for MSC Malaysia Status companies to cultivate the sound management and decision-making skills and competencies that are essential if our companies are to meet the challenges of today’s increasingly competitive global markets,” said MDeC CEO Dato’ Badlisham Ghazali. “The individuals who have just participated in this game have received invaluable experience in making the tough policy and strategic decisions that are a part of running an efficient modern business, in particular during an economic downturn,” Badlisham added. Balisham then presented the four members of the Les' Copaque Production team with the 1st Prize of RM3,000. The 2nd place team from Prudential Services Asia received RM2,000 and 3rd place team from ALCIM received RM1,000. The MSC Malaysia Management Game is a team-based competition that tests the managerial, leadership and decision-making skills of players through a realistic computer-simulation. Teams run virtual companies and must make decisions about production, investment, pricing, finance and marketing strategies. At the end of each round, the decisions of all the teams are fed into a computer that works out the industry developments and market events that would occur. The computer then produces a business report for each team that they use to make their decisions in the next round.

MSC Malaysia Management Game 2009 was organized by MDeC’s Capability Development Department (CDP), with the assistance of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), as part of CDP’s ongoing efforts to raise internal competencies among MSC Malaysia Status companies. Through the game, the players have gained valuable practical experience and learned important lessons that they can apply when they return to their companies,” said MDeC Vice President and Head of Capacity Development Division Ng Wan Peng.
