Sophos announces new customer wins in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines

Sophos continues to grow market share across Southeast Asia with significant wins that include Malaysian Nuclear Agency, PT Great Giant Pineapple and Philippine Airlines

Singapore. May 6, 2009 – Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today announced new customer wins in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. These include Malaysian Nuclear Agency and VADS Berhad in Malaysia; PT Great Giant Pineapple, PT Gunung Sewu Kencana, PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk and PT Federal International Finance in Indonesia; as well as Philippine Airlines and Universal Robina Corporation in the Philippines.

Malaysian Nuclear Agency, which promotes excellence in research and applications of nuclear technology for sustainable development in Malaysia, has inked a multi-year contract for the implementation of Sophos Endpoint Security and Control. The deployment will see Sophos Endpoint Security and Control providing comprehensive protection of Malaysian Nuclear Agency’s enterprise network and endpoint devices against both known and unknown threats. Featuring integrated network access control (NAC) functionality, Sophos Endpoint Security and Control is also designed to help Malaysian Nuclear Agency enforce security policies across its enterprise network and control the use of unauthorised applications such as instant messaging.

Similarly, leading managed ICT services provider VADS Berhad will also deploy Sophos Endpoint Security and Control on a multi-year license.

Commenting on the implementation, Megat Mazhar Khair Megat Md Nor, General Manager, Hosting & Managed Services of VADS Berhad, said, “Sophos Endpoint Security and Control is feature-rich and has proved to be easy to install and maintain during the evaluation process. In addition to a wide spectrum of functionalities including anti-virus, client firewall protection and intrusion prevention, we were also impressed with the integrated NAC which adds a further layer of preventive protection to our network.”

In Indonesia, PT Great Giant Pineapple, one of the top three leading pineapple producers in the world, will roll out Sophos Endpoint Security and Control and Sophos Email Security and Control on a multi-year license. Sophos Email Security and Control is designed to help stop email borne threats including spam and phishing, enabling complete security and content management from the Internet gateway to the workgroup server, and prevention of information leakage and compliance violations.

Likewise, Investment and management group PT Gunung Sewu Kencana and financial services company PT Federal International Finance have inked a multi-year agreement to implement Sophos Endpoint Security and Control and Sophos Email Security and Control. PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk, the biggest shipping company in Indonesia, will add Sophos Email Security and Control to its existing IT environment to protect the entire email infrastructure against both known and unknown threats.

In the Philippines, national carrier Philippine Airlines will deploy Sophos Endpoint Security and Control for its 4,000 users on a multi-year license, while food and beverage company Universal Robina Corporation will implement both Sophos Endpoint Security and Control and Sophos Email Security and Control to benefit more than 2,000 corporate users with comprehensive protection across the enterprise.
