Red Hat Appoints Patrick Lim as ASEAN General Manager

MALAYSIA – 9 June 2009 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions,has appointed Patrick Lim as ASEAN General Manager, responsible for overall sales and businessmanagement for the region. Lim will provide strategy and direction for the growth of Red Hat in ASEANmarkets and manage short and long-term sales objectives, channel relations, business office operations andstaff training.

Lim has more than 25 years of business and IT industry experience with a strong background in majorindustry sectors including government, financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturingand transport. Lim also has extensive experience in direct sales and major accounts sales, as well as inmanaging and building strong business relationships with channel partners in the region. “Patrick has a proven track record in marketing IT solutions to large multinational companies and leadingsales engagement at all levels of the client organization,” said Gery Messer, president for Asia Pacific/Japan,Red Hat. “We anticipate that the Red Hat ASEAN sales team will benefit immensely from his experience indirect and indirect sales and results-driven approach. He will lead the ASEAN sales team in its effort toprovide effective channel support and to grow the business contribution from our channel partners in theregion.”

Red Hat continues to build its operations in the region and further strengthen its position as the leadingopen source solutions provider. Lim joins Red Hat with a wealth of industry experience. He has previouslyworked for companies including IBM, Hitachi Data Systems, Exabyte Corporation, SolidWorks Corporationand EMC Corporation.

Lim has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree from the National University of Singapore and an MBAfrom Hull University, UK.
