Fortinet Appoints Pacific InTech as Third Distributor in Malaysia

Partnership to Speed up Adoption of Fortinet's Full Suite of Security Solutions in the Country

Malaysia, 8 February 2012 ― Fortinet— a world leader in high-performance network security—and Pacific InTech, a value-added distributor specializing in enterprise communications, network and security solutions, today announced that they have signed an agreement to distribute Fortinet's complete suite of security solutions in Malaysia. This appointment augments Fortinet's existing distributorships with Ingram Micro and Spectrum Edge in the country.

While Fortinet has built up a strong business from its flagship FortiGate integrated multi-threat security appliances, it has started to diversify from this core solution to related products so that it can become an end-to-end IT security vendor, offering enterprises security that extends from the client, to databases, to Web applications, to the overall network. Pacific InTech's primary task is to grow Fortinet's business in these new security solutions.

Pacific InTech, with its extensive channel network and long experience in the enterprise security space, will be able to accelerate these products' penetration to Malaysia-based enterprises and service providers. Besides distributing the FortiGate network security product line, Pacific InTech will distribute Fortinet's FortiBalancer (application delivery control), FortiCache (Web caching), FortiSwitch (Gigabit switching), FortiWeb (application firewall), FortiAP (thin wireless access point) and FortiMail (secure messaging) solutions to resellers covering all industry verticals.

Dato' Sri George Chang, Fortinet's regional director for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong who is also acting country manager for Malaysia, said: "With its strong reseller base and impeccable track record in driving network security sales, Pacific InTech is the ideal candidate to help Fortinet strengthen its Malaysian business through broad-based diversification. Importantly, Pacific InTech is skilled in managing a wide range of security solutions and can, through its reseller network, help customers optimise their security environment for greater protection and cost efficiency."

Fortinet chose Pacific InTech over other distributors for this partnership because of the latter's established base of network security resellers in Malaysia, proven technical expertise, and a trusted working relationship spanning many years in neighbouring Singapore.

Andy Woo, director at Pacific InTech, said this collaboration puts the distributor on a solid footing to start the new year.

"Taken together, Fortinet's comprehensive suite of IT security solutions and Pacific InTech's deep reach into the ISP, government and enterprise sectors, represent an unmatched proposition in the Malaysian market today. Tech resellers looking to help organisations protect their operations end-to-end now have a dependable, single point of contact to turn to," he said.

In the coming months, Pacific InTech will roll out reseller training programs, lead generation events, and end user programs.
