Google, SKMM, .My Domain Registry and ITrain Help Sabah & Sarawak Businesses Get Online

Get My Business Online (GMBO) is a new initiative by Google Malaysia to bring more businesses online and and provide a boost to the local online ecosystem in partnership with Suruhanjaya Komunikasi & Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM), .My Domain Registry and ITrain.

Through GMBO, any business with zero online presence should take no longer than one working day (upon domain approval) to get their business websites up and running with no strings attached.
YB Datuk Noroden Majais, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Office (4th from left) and Sajith Sivanandan, country manager of Google Malaysia (3rd from left) together with representatives from SKMM, .My Domain Registry and ITrain at the launch of the Sarawak leg of the Get My Business Online (GMBO) initiative last week.

To set up a website, a business owner can visit the GMBO site at http://www.getMYbusinessonline.com.my/ and enter their business details such as license number, business phone number, and a few other items such as street address and opening hours.

GMBO’s overall goal is to help at least 50,000 Malaysian businesses including those based in Sabah & Sarawak, to set up a website and be active online within this year. The first 10,000 SMEs that sign up and go live with their sites get everything absolutely free; including domain name and hosting for a year.

For example, Living Quarters Laundry, which provides laundry pick-up and delivery services in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan, is just one of the many SMEs in Sabah. Through GMBO, Mr. Mario Rayner Laban of Living Quarters Laundry Collection and Delivery Service has a new website at http://www.livingquarterslaundry.com.my/ -- where his customers can now find him online.
