Kreative.Asia: Igniting the Local Creative Industry

Renowned Global Creative Industry Professionals to share exciting insights

KUALA LUMPUR, MARCH 26, 2012 – Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) in collaboration with official partners X|Media|Lab (XML) is proud to announce the return of the eagerly anticipated creative industry summit Kreative.Asia from Friday, April 6 to Sunday, April 8 at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

Held for the third time since it was first introduced in 2009, Kreative.Asia 2012 is an initiative from MDeC’s Kre8tif! platform that brings together the world’s top creative minds to share their experience, insights and knowledge in the field of creative multimedia and animation.

Speaking about the programme Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of MDeC said “Malaysia has come a long way in developing its creative industry over the past decade. In the past few years we have seen the successful introduction of the country’s very own animation movies and series to the international arena. We are indeed pleased to be a part of this development, since introducing this programme in 2009 we have seen many new local talents emerge and grow. Given the wonderful support that this programme has garnered in previous years, we hope to continue organising it in the future and hopefully, we will be able to feature Malaysian creative multimedia industry icons in the future.”

Brendan Harkin, Founder and Director of X|Media|Lab also expressed his excitement for this year’s event, saying, “We are delighted to partner with MDeC once again to bring Kreative.Asia to Malaysia. The speakers and presenters showcased in this upcoming programme are renowned and successful personalities in their respective fields. The three-day programme will enable participants to engage in a series of forums, discussions and “masterclasses” focusing on various aspects of the creative and animation industry such as creative leadership, interactive storytelling, gamification, branded entertainment, digital marketing, concept art & visual design, transmedia, social-location-mobile (SO-LO-MO), producing and pitching and animation and visual effects.

The programme will feature industry leaders and pioneers from various art, entertainment and design industries. They include :

· Carolyn Handler Miller, Writer, Consultant and Specialist in Interactive Media who has worked on the landmark Carmen Sandiego series and the interactive version of the Pixar-Disney film, Toy Story.

· Esther Lim, a well respected Digital Marketing Leader, Transmedia Producer, Social Media Strategist, and Game Analyst with over 15 years of experience creating digital, social, social media and transmedia storytelling programs for Fortune 500 brands.
Caitlin Burns Transmedia Producer with Starlight Runner Entertainment responsible for strategic planning and production of video games, comic book series, movies, toys and animation for blockbuster hits such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Fairies, Tron Legacy and Avatar.

· Jason Manley President of TheArtDepartment.org who secured and oversaw the delivery of more than 280 entertainment industry projects and numerous blockbuster hits from clients in games, film, toys, social media, comics, television, and animation. His clients include Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA, Activision/Blizzard, Square Enix, Black Isle Studios
