U MOBILE BIDS FOR A GREENER FUTURE

Telco Reaches Out to Youths in Advocating the Importance of Environmental Preservation

Kuala Lumpur, 7 March 2012 – Orange is certainly the new green as U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative telco set-out to inspire and educate youths on the importance of preserving and protecting the environment as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

A team of U Mobile staff members took time off from their daily schedules to be part of the company’s first CSR initiative this year, educating secondary school students on environmental issues and the roles they play in protecting Mother Nature from severe pollution and deterioration. In addition to giving informational talks on the environment, U Mobile will be sponsoring recycling bins to schools, enabling students to cultivate great habits of environmental preservation and encourage them to recycle and reuse wastes. The telco will also be providing educational boards and environmental preservation signage to schools to sustain its effort in educating students to foster greater awareness and understanding towards the issue.

Speaking about the CSR initiative, Lisy Lee, U Mobile’s Head of Corporate Communication said, “Apart from reducing carbon footprint within our business practice by sharing network infrastructure with other telco in the market, we also strive to extend our commitment to preserve the environment by inspiring and educating youths to make a difference within communities that we’re involved in.”

This initiative is also an extension of U Mobile’s role in being a good corporate citizen and in continuing its effort for the initiative; U Mobile will be touring to a list of other schools for similar activities and engagements.
