Dell Malaysia appoints new Managing Director Tang Ching Siang

• Dato’ Simon Wong retires as Managing Director of Dell Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 2 April 2012 – Dell today announced the appointment of Tang Ching Siang as the new managing director of Dell Malaysia. Mr. Tang succeeds Dato’ Simon Wong, who is retiring after 14 years with Dell.

As of 1 April 2012, Tang will hold dual roles as the managing director of Dell Malaysia leading Dell’s operations here and as vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) commercial sales overseeing Dell’s customer experience and sales operations in the APJ region. Dato’ Simon first joined Dell in 1998 and has been instrumental in growing Dell’s Malaysian operations, which today includes desktop and server production, as well as providing IT services to customers and Dell offices worldwide.

One of Dato’ Simon’s biggest contributions was championing Dell’s corporate giving efforts in Malaysia, which he drove with a passion. Among others, he led the company’s annual charity run which has raised over RM1.0 million todate in aid of children’s causes and, most recently, initiated Dell’s public scholarship program.

Dato’ Simon’s leadership approach and qualities resonate throughout the whole organization. “The Dell team in APJ has consistently achieved the highest rates of productivity and quality and this is a testament of Simon’s inspirational guidance and vision for success,” said Amit Midha, APJ president, Dell. “On behalf of everyone at Dell, I would like to thank him for driving the Dell team in Malaysia and APJ to deliver great value and results for our customers.”

The responsibility of ensuring Dell’s growth as a leading solutions provider will now be held by Tang. Having joined Dell in 1996, Tang has held various functions in quality control, customer care program management, product development, manufacturing and as general manager for Dell’s Dalian, China facility.

Taking over from Dato’ Simon means I have very big shoes to fill but I strongly believe with my experience at Dell and with the support of our dedicated and talented team, we will be able to continue the outstanding legacy that he has created,” said Tang.

Enhancing Dell Malaysia’s leadership as a sought-after employer, Dell has also appointed Mr. Shankar Nagalingam as its new human resource director for Malaysia, taking over from Mr. Phor Hooi Khoon who moves on to Dell China.
