If you think your smartphone is faster than a Windows Phone, take the challenge and win a RM100 voucher or admit to the world your smartphone was smoked!
Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2012 – “Smoked By Windows Phone,” the much talked-about Microsoft challenge that confidently pits Windows Phone against any of the world’s most popular smartphones in simple, everyday tasks, is now in Kuala Lumpur from now until the end of May 2012. The challenge was first launched at CES 2012 in Las Vegas earlier this year and has spread worldwide like a wildfire; having already taken place in Singapore, Jakarta and Hong Kong in Asia alone. The Kuala Lumpur leg is hosted by popular Fly FM DJ Ben a.k.a Ben Jern (@benjern), who is also an all-out Windows Phone enthusiast.
To participate, all challengers need to do is bring their own smartphone, use the same secure and dedicated Wi-Fi or mobile broadband hotspot that the Windows Phone user is on for a level playing field, and execute simple tasks like snapping a photo, posting status updates across Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, finding out important information as quickly as possible, or other daily tasks that typical smartphone users do. If the challenger successfully completes the task faster than the Windows Phone user, they win the challenge and will receive a shopping voucher worth RM100 on the spot!
“When Microsoft contacted me with the opportunity to host the Smoked By Windows challenge in Kuala Lumpur, it got me really excited! I can’t wait to see you eager challengers soon!” said Ben.
He continued, “I’ve been a big fan of smart phones for ages and was among one of the first adopters of the Windows Mobile platform among my peers. Among all the platforms out there, it’s really great to see how Windows Mobile has matured making it possibly one of the simplest mobile operating systems to use! I really like how it makes the things that I and other real people do every day on our phones easier and faster. Windows Phone presents instant information on the stuff that matters to me with Live Tiles, makes it easier to connect with the people I care about with built-in Social Networking, and helps me find what I’m looking for with Bing Search.”
The Smoked By Windows Challenge recently had Ben meet challengers on the streets of Kuala Lumpur in the vicinity of Times Square, Bukit Bintang and Pavillion. Ben has also taken the challenge to students, lecturers and staff at Inti University College, Subang Jaya. A preview of how some of the challenges went is now available at: http://aka.ms/SBWPPreview.
Challengers can next encounter Ben and the Smoked By Windows Phone challenge at this weekend’s PC Fair, held from 14-15 April 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
