Clavister launches simplified security solutions to protect cloud service providers, enterprise and telcos against complex threats

Mobile and network security company will boost Malaysia presence, ASEAN sales channel

Kuala Lumpur, 4 July 2012 – Clavister, a global leading mobile and network security provider, today announced the launch of a new portfolio of high performance, future proof network security products and solutions aimed at cloud service providers, enterprises, and telecom operators. Clavister's new security offerings are designed to address today's business environment characterised by a mobile workforce and emergence of applications pose greater risks on corporate networks.

Speaking at the launch of Clavister's new range of security products in Kuala Lumpur, Mr Andreas Asander, CEO of Clavister, Asia Pacific Region, said, “Clavister is experiencing tremendous business growth in Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia where there is a high demand for outsourced data centers, cloud hosting and mobile services. Clavister's customers in Malaysia include a major telecommunications company, a government-linked bank and various government institutions.

According to research firm IDC, Malaysia's security software revenues will reach USD 83 million (RM262 million) by 2015, the largest in Southeast Asia. Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are the next big markets for security software.

Designed to simplify installation, management and support, Clavister’s new security solutions are being launched in tandem with an improved operating system with a more user-friendly interface. Known as Clavister cOS, it has been released in two versions, cOS Core and cOS Stream which replace Clavister CorePlus and SlipStream.

Clavister cOS Core introduces Application Control which will identify and control more than 1,000 applications such as Facebook, YouTube and Skype; and business applications such as Oracle Financials or Microsoft Navision while Clavister cOS Stream is designed for telecom operators and will optimize the likes of Mobile Data Offloading and Mobile PBN.

With the rise of unauthorized applications such as social networking sites and games, companies are more exposed to malwares and data loss. Such threats demand evolved security gateways that can help control the usage of applications that legacy firewalls cannot control. Internet applications today are increasingly using encrypted SSL tunnels and use clever evasive tactics to disguise themselves to find any entry point through the firewall. Traditional firewalls are not sophisticated enough to distinguish between business applications, P2P, social media or malware or rouge applications.

Clavister's new product portfolio has an innovative design to ensure the highest levels of protection in a compact device, while the process of installation, management and support is made far simpler. “In summary, what we are delivering is a totally new suite of solutions boasting simplicity, design and extreme performance,” Ms Asander added.
