Malaysia’s only trade exhibition for ICT sector to attract 8,000 buyers
Kuala Lumpur – The organisers of ITX Asia 2012 project an RM 12 million sales over three days for the trade exhibition. The only ICT trade exhibition is being held from 12 to 14 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It features some 100 vendors and solutions providers to meet businesses face-to-face – allowing seamless on-boarding to the world of technology.
Organised by Business Media International, ITX Asia 2012 is held at a time when Malaysia prepares to shift gear to a high income economy and will bring together 8,000 enterprises, government and SMB buyers and decision makers over the 3-day exhibition and conference. Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation, Datuk Fadillah Yusof officiated at the exhibition.
“In spite of a global background of economic uncertainty and fears of multiple bubbles ready to burst, the ICT industry remains not only resilient but poised to grow. Nowhere is this growth more apparent than the dynamic Asia region. All key regional markets grow at least three times faster than developed markets, and 75 percent of them have twice the GDP growth of leading developed markets. In 2010, 88 out of the Fortune Global 500 companies were from emerging markets. Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and India are the next countries on the horizon”, said Willam Ng, managing director of Business Media International.
Ng added, “Take Malaysia as an example: the mobile broadband market is reported to be worth US$ 3 billion by 2015, its enterprise services market which includes data center services, M2M services, IT/System Integration services, and WAN services is expected to hit US$ 1.89 billion by the same year. Even hardware and product acquisition is expected to hit a new high - driven by massive government infrastructural spending and the New Economic Model.”
“Malaysia’s competitiveness ranking has improved significantly with the collective efforts of the Government and the private sector including the introduction of e-Government, the concerted rollout of broadband and internet penetration across the country, the emphasis and promotion of innovation among all strata of the society and the focus on partnering with technology to deliver greater efficiency within the public delivery systems,” said Fadillah.
Fadillah added, “the Government continues to place emphasis on development of the ICT sector both as an industry and as an enabler and multiplier. This encompasses providing an enabling eco-system, the provision of funds to selected projects that are ready for commercialisation, the development of experts and knowledge workers, and an efficient roll out of the various technology to the grassroots.”
Concurrently held with the Exhibition, ITX Asia Conference 2012 themed “When Technology Meets Business”, features regional gurus who share tips, directions and recent case studies which demonstrates how to leverage on ICT to grow businesses.
The exhibition is open to trade visitors from 12 to 14 September and admission is free. For further information, visit www.itxasia.com.
