Brother Cares Contributes RM25,000 to Support Cancer Patients in the Annual Relay For Life Malaysia


Brother International back to support National Cancer Society of Malaysia for the second time  

Bangi, October 16, 2012 – Brother International (M) Sdn Bhd, a leader in the development and manufacturing in the fields of printing, communications, labelling, industrial and personal sewing, contributes RM25,000 to National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) in Relay For Life Malaysia, which was held at University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Relay for Life, an over-night event, celebrating the lives of cancer survivors as well as to remember the lives of loved ones who have lost the battle.  The events are being held all over the world.  This movement raised millions of dollars to help find a cure for cancer and to support local cancer associations to carry out activities that care, educate their respective communities.  Currently, Relay for Life events are being held in 21 countries.

Brother International Malaysia team participated the ‘Survivors Lap’, which is to support and encourage cancer survivors in fighting the disease. 35 personnel from Brother International Malaysia will be relaying continuously for 16 hours.

According to Brother International (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director, Mr. Yoshiaki Otsuka, the contribution is part of Brother International’s global initiative towards supporting humanitarian causes, and in this case, for people afflicted with cancer.

Brother International Malaysia has its own corporate social responsibility initiative which was first kicked-off in 2005 with the objective of providing support in terms of communication, printing and imaging equipment to deserving, active non-profit organizations.  This is second time that Brother is supporting a cause for cancer patients in Malaysia.” Mr. Otsuka said.

Mr. Otsuka added that cancer has been ranked as one of the major health concerns in Malaysia, and treatment costs are expensive.  Therefore, Brother takes it as a responsibility to contribute to the community’s well-being.
35 personnel from Brother International Malaysia will be relaying continuously for 16 hours to support  and encourage cancer survivors in fighting the disease.

Aside from that, the company help organiser by opening a booth selling Relay For Life merchandise.  Caps with the Relay for Life Malaysia 2012 logos; embroidered by Brother’s embroidery machines and instant photo printing using Brother’s inkjet machines had added to the funding for National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
