Seagate’s Key Predictions for 2013

By BanSeng Teh, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Seagate Technology Asia Pacific and Japan.

Going into 2013, we will continue to witness strong growth in cloud computing and mobile connectivity. In 2012, the total digital information worldwide was estimated at 2.7 zettabytes. This has increased by almost 50% since 2011.

We foresee mobile lifestyle becoming increasingly visible both at enterprise and consumer levels this year. We are optimistic that the wide variety of new notebook offerings, including thin and light systems, will result in renewed growth in this market over the next 12 months. We also remain confident about the long term impact of Windows 8 and other operating systems that enhance the user experience by incorporating touch, keyboard, pen, voice and gesture. All of these tech trends lead to one answer for Seagate— opportunities for the storage industry.

Seagate is now in its third generation solid state hybrid-notebook drives and we are expanding this technology into desktop and enterprise products. Seagate’s mobile wireless storage and backup solutions are changing the way users are protecting and sharing their digital life.
