IBM穩佔東南亞區伺服器盈利第一位

IBM Retains #1 Position in ASEAN-Region Server Revenue

Petaling Jaya, 29 June 2007 - IBM was named as the number one vendor in the overall server market in the ASEAN region in Q1 2007, capturing 36.1 percent share, according to IDC’s Asia/Pacific Quarterly Enterprise Server Tracker, Q1 2007, May 2007. IBM has been the #1 ranked overall server vendor in terms of revenues in ASEAN for 12 consecutive years from 1995 - 2006 on an annual basis (1).

“Due to the growing trend of companies consolidating workloads onto high-end systems, IBM is well positioned to take advantage of this trend through its leadership in UNIX and mainframes. In one of our recent campaigns, the IBM ‘Project Big Green’, IBM explained how the energy crisis in data centers is driving businesses to consolidate inefficient distributed systems onto more energy-smart and cost-effective high-end systems," said Paul Moung, Vice President, IBM Systems & Technology Group/Business Partners, IBM ASEAN/SA. "IBM will continue its leadership in the server market with initiatives like this so as to ensure our clients receive the best of IBM technology to sharply reduce data center energy consumption."

IBM in Malaysia was the number one ranked vendor in the overall server market by revenue share, in the first quarter of 2007. IBM took the top spot with a 48.6 percent revenue share, posting an impressive 65.9 percent year-on-year growth, outpacing the market growth by more than 3 times. IBM continues to dominate as market leader in revenue terms for the second consecutive quarter, since capturing the #1 position in the 4th quarter of 2006 in the overall Malaysia server market. IBM also grabbed the first position in the Non-x86 Unix Servers with a 46 percent revenue share in Q1 2007. However, IBM made its mark in the overall Linux server space in Malaysia, where IBM’s revenues grew an outstanding 266.6 percent year-on-year that enabled it to capture 48.3% market share.

Explaining the reasons for their remarkable achievement, Robert Lye, General Manager, Systems Technology Group, IBM Malaysia said “These numbers reflect how customers today are choosing their solutions. IBM system builds upon our existing strategy and is a direct result from talking to customers and examining their needs. We have an all-encompassing commitment to open standards, delivering solutions and technology innovation that matters, simplification and maximum business productivity to enable companies to achieve business breakthroughs and become an on demand business with IBM Systems”.

Robert Lye added, “As always, we could not have done it without our business partners. We are seeing fruits from the expansion of our partner network and ecosystem. They want to work with IBM because they know IBM provides value to them and their customers. IBM will continue to boost our focus on increasing business partners’ success in helping clients to capitalize on innovation that matters”.In an earlier report, IBM also announced that IBM had retained the Number One position in Worldwide Server Revenue and continued to lead in $250k+ Servers market worldwide, according to another analyst house, Gartner.
