Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd would like to announce that it will abide by Panel Kajian Syariah, Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia’s (JAKIM) decision that the current 100Days 100Cars Content Promotion is not in full compliance with Syariah requirements.
“We concur with the decision made by the panel and will immediately refine the concept to ensure that we come out with an improved concept that is in full compliance with Syariah requirements,” said Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, Chief Executive Officer, Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad. “JAKIM has expressed their full cooperation and priority to enable the new concept to be introduced immediately.”
Celcom is also pleased that after a comprehensive review of the promotion and consistent engagement with JAKIM for the past two weeks, it has opened new and wider scope of opportunities and understanding on the requirements of the Syariah, specific to those related to telecommunications products and services.
Concurrently, JAKIM will also produce clearer and specific guidelines for SMS-related promotional and contest activities. This exercise will also allow other companies to be well-guided by Syariah requirements in their promotional activities.
Celcom will work very closely with JAKIM for the next two weeks to refine the concept and issue an official announcement to its customers and the public with regards to the latest developments on this promotion and any new mechanisms / concepts in compliance with the Syariah requirements.
