VeriSign Extends Partnership with MSC Trustgate to Deliver Identity and Authentication Services in Malaysia

MSC Trustgate to now resell VeriSign® Identity Protectionand VeriSign Unified Authentication Services

Cyberjaya, Malaysia – 20 October 2008 – VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN), the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, today announced that it has extended its existing reseller relationship with MSC Trustgate Sdn Bhd by entering into an additional agreement to deliver a range of advanced identity and authentication services in Malaysia.

Under the new strategic agreement, MSC Trustgate will resell the VeriSign® Identity Protection (VIP) and VeriSign® Unified Authentication Services. These services offer businesses strong authentication for protecting the online identities of their customers, business partners and employees. Based on open standards, the VIP Authentication Service is a two-factor authentication solution that enables a wide choice of credentials including standalone tokens, credit card sized devices and mobile phones. The VIP Authentication Service is deployed as an Internet service layer, which means consumers can use a single security device to authenticate themselves across any VIP-enabled Web site. By leveraging a shared security and logistics infrastructure, VIP makes it simpler, faster and more cost-effective for companies to implement stronger authentication for their online customers.

The VeriSign Unified Authentication Service provides strong authentication for an enterprise to control access to its VPN, intranet and secure applications by its partners and mobile workforce. One-time password (OTP) generators support strong authentication for users who connect from outside secure networks, often using their own equipment. By providing a token, smart card, mobile phone or other OTP-generation tool to authorised users, enterprise IT departments have more options to control access.

“Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in Malaysia, with personal information, such as credit card and NRIC numbers, netting criminals thousands of Ringgit in a very short time frame and this has became 78% concerned by Malaysian as reported by the Unisys Security Index,” said Mohd Roslee, CEO of MSC Trustgate. “As Malaysia rapidly develops online services, a fresh approach to identity theft was needed to not only help protect consumers, but also drive local businesses to adopt and deploy strong authentication. Working with VeriSign, we can now offer a unique approach to identity protection that will help our customers address this.”

MSC Trustgate has been an affiliate of VeriSign since 2000 focused on reselling VeriSign’s Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services to businesses and government, incorporating digital certificates, digital signatures and encryption. These services all operate out of MSC Trustgate’s high security data centre in Cyberjaya. Due to its proven success as a VeriSign reseller, its security infrastructure and its expertise in trust services, MSC Trustgate is in a great position to extend VeriSign’s global trust network in Malaysia.

“MSC Trustgate has proven to be a strong partner in security and trust services for individuals, enterprises, government and e-commerce organisations in Malaysia,” said Ed Elliff, Director of Identity and Authentication Services, VeriSign Asia Pacific. “We believe it has the reputation to successfully extend our range of identity and authentication services in the Malaysian market.”
