DiGi mobilizes the web for future growth

Kuala Lumpur, 11 February 2009 - DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi)announced its foray into the online space with the launch of mySimplifieds(www.mySimplifieds.com), a classifieds portal to cement its strategy toexpand beyond telecommunications services to stay on the pulse of itscustomers.

CEO of DiGi Johan Dennelind said, "We are exploring mobile-relevant businessopportunities to further seed growth as the industry matures. Five monthsago, we charted an industry's first to offer all DiGi customers free PAinsurance worth RM10,000 via easy SMS activation. Today, we are tapping onthe growing popularity of the online space as an avenue to engage with ourcurrent customers and to reach out to new audiences through the birth of ourvery own online classifieds portal, mySimplifieds."

The concept was coined to reflect DiGi's innovation and promise ofsimplicity. Aptly named, mySimplifieds, the portal was set up in partnershipwith a local content developer, Kasatria Technologies Sdn Bhd with a cleargoal of creating a truly functional and easy-to-use service for Malaysianweb and mobile users. It is a platform where people can meet online to buyand sell or simply browse.

mySimplifieds harnesses the full potential of Web 2.0 and social networks tomake BUYING and SELLING simpler via various online features andfunctionalities. Unique to mySimplifieds, the portal allows users to createan additional access to promote their classified items via other websites,blog widgets, popular social networks (Facebook, Friendster), and mobileusing WAP. Users can grab great deals online and on mobile for almostanything ranging from properties and gadgets, to tour packages, cars andbooks.

Within a month, mySimplifieds has registered close to ten thousand members,approximately six thousand ad postings and almost 500,000 page views.

Dennelind elaborated that mySimplifieds is one of many ideas DiGi has thatleverages the potential of the web. "It is an example of how mobile userexperience can be enhanced as people become more accustom to accessinginternet via their mobile devices. The portal is optimized for mobileviewing, and we have plans to converge SMS services for users to get alertson the go.

"This foray is aligned to our ambition to bring internet to the people andrepresents our investment for the future with a promise for greatercustomer-relevant experience and opportunity to grow new revenue streams,"added Dennelind.
