P1 – Asia’s Leading Private Technology Venture

Red Herring chose P1 over more than 900 other leading tech companies in the region.

Kuala Lumpur – Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“P1”) – Malaysia’s first and leading WiMAX telco has notched another significant milestone by being the first Malaysian telco and WiMAX player to be announced as a groundbreaking innovator and a winner of the coveted Red Herring 100 Award – an independent selection of the 100 most innovative private technology companies based in Asia.

Red Herring is a global media company, which unites the world’s best high technology innovators, venture investors and business decision makers in a variety of forums. It publishes a leading innovation magazine, an online daily technology news service and technology newsletters and organizes major events for technology leaders around the globe. More information about Red Herring is available online at www.redherring.com.

In 2008 the Red Herring editorial board diligently surveyed the entrepreneurial scene throughout Asia and identified the top 100 out of over 1,000 closely evaluated companies that are leading the next wave of technology innovation.

The 100 winning companies have been announced at the Red Herring Asia event in Hong Kong, last December.

“This is an awesome achievement for P1. The award is recognition of our efforts in establishing P1 as a challenger, innovator and leader within the industry in a short time. As a young company, there’s tremendous room to grow. We will have our sights set at earning the most important recognition of all – the trust of our customers,” said Michael Lai, CEO of P1.

“Beyond this, P1 will continue in our pursuit to deliver Broadband for All through continuous innovation while at the same time advancing the broadband industry in Malaysia and beyond.” Michael concluded.

Earlier this year, the CEOs of the winning start-ups presented their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers, and corporate strategists at the event at the Hong Kong JW Marriott Hotel.
