U MOBILE SET FOR GROWTH WITH NEW FMCG DISTRIBUTOR

“Partnership with LH Sales & Marketing to increase distribution channel and expand market outreach”

Kuala Lumpur, 23 August 2011 - U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative telco service provider is set to boost its market penetration thanks to its recent partnership with LH Sales & Marketing Sdn Bhd (LHSM), Malaysia’s leading distributor in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. With this partnership, U Mobile aims to increase its distribution channel for prepaid starter packs and top-ups by over 10,000 retail outlets, therefore expanding its market outreach.

Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile Sdn Bhd said, “This partnership marks the coming together of two innovative entities that are both dynamic and responsive to its target audiences. LHSM is the national distribution arm of Lein Heng Group, specializing in sales & marketing, warehousing and distribution solutions catering to the FMCG sector. Notable clients within their portfolio are Procter & Gamble, Marlboro, Dumex, Kraft and other noteworthy brands, with distribution channels ranging from hypermarket chains such as Giant, Tesco and Carrefour to independent convenient stores located in residential areas.

This strategic partnership also marked a milestone for the company, making U Mobile one of the first telco operators in the region to employ a non-traditional approach in marketing telco products and services. The collaboration is an expansion of the company’s existing partnership with other non-traditional distribution channels including 145 Singer outlets and 1,200 of 7-eleven stores nationwide.
