Corero Network Security Announces Strategic Partnership with Spectrum Edge To Further Expand Market Presence in Malaysia

New local channel partner to help local businesses stop DDoS attacks and safeguard sensitive data

MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur— October 23, 2012 -- Corero Network Security (CNS:LN), a leading global provider of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Defence Systems (DDS), has officially appointed Spectrum Edge Sdn Bhd as its value added distributor for Malaysia.

This strategic partnership will enable Corero to leverage Spectrum Edge’s proven track record, strong technical expertise and a wide reseller network of over 200 channel partners to provide large and small companies in Malaysia with secure and reliable solutions to help prevent DDoS attacks, protect their IT infrastructure, and safeguard sensitive data.

(l-r) Corero Network Security’s regional manager for South East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan Eryin Halmen, Corero Network Security’s vice president for international operations Paul Lawrence, Spectrum Edge’s managing director Mohamad Reza Abdul Hamid and Spectrum Edge’s principal consultant Wong Chun Meng.

“Companies in Malaysia are now realising that traditional security solutions are inadequate to protect their critical websites from attacks,” said Paul Lawrence, Corero Network Security’s Vice President for International Operations.

“The continuous and high-profile attacks on websites worldwide by financially motivated and ideologically inspired hactivists among others, have prompted local businesses and government agencies to re-examine their security defences.”

Lawrence strongly advises local organisations to select a comprehensive, effective solution that will detect and block both known and unknown attacks without impacting network performance. “A new  First Line of Defence is needed in front of existing infrastructure, like firewalls and IPS solutions that detects and blocks DDoS and advanced targeted attacks. Corero solutions uniquely stop all forms of DDoS attacks at the gateway to the organisation, eliminating costly downtime, and protecting IT infrastructure,” he said.

Spectrum Edge will market Corero's entire range of solutions in Malaysia, which include its DDS (DDoS Defence Systems) and its next generation Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). Additionally, Spectrum Edge will also provide training, education, as well as service and support capabilities for Corero’s products.

“We are pleased to appoint Spectrum Edge as Corero’s value added distributor for Malaysia. With cyber criminals launching more frequent and devastating DDoS attacks,  local companies need the most effective and comprehensive front-line protection available on the market,” said Eryin Halmen, Corero’s regional manager for South East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. “Together, Corero and Spectrum Edge aims to deliver best-in-class enterprise security solutions to ensure information security and uninterrupted business continuity.”

Halmen added that Spectrum Edge commands a huge market presence in Malaysia with strong network of channel partners in key growth sectors such as banking and financial services, telcos, airlines, insurance and retail.

“Spectrum Edge is very excited about this new partnership with Corero Network Security.  Corero’s award-winning product line and proven expertise in DDoS defence fits perfectly into our portfolio of security solutions and value added services.  With our broad base of resellers nationwide, Spectrum Edge will significantly expand the distribution of Corero’s products across Malaysia," said Mohamad Reza Abdul Hamid, Managing Director of Spectrum Edge.
