DiGi and Skype collaborate to provide exclusive offer

First Malaysian mobile operator to offer free Skype Credit

SHAH ALAM, 27 March 2013 – DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) is working with Skype™, a leading provider of Internet communications software, to offer free Skype Credit to DiGi customers as part of DiGi’s on-going efforts to deliver a richer Internet experience. Starting from 1 April 2013, DiGi will be the first Malaysian mobile operator to offer free Skype Credit to new and existing customers.

Through this agreement, DiGi customers will be able to use DiGi’s high quality data network to contact their loved ones with up to 100 minutes of free Skype Out voice calls to fixed lines and mobile phones, plus the full range of Skype’s free voice, video and messaging offerings at normal data rates. This latest offer joins the growing ecosystem of digital services that DiGi is building with the help of key Internet players.

Praveen Rajan, Head of Products – Internet & Services for DiGi said: “This latest collaboration with Skype joins the growing list of relationships DiGi has been embarking on to drive the mobile Internet adoption rate in Malaysia. We believe that it is important to create a positive environment that propels communications usage trends to the next level. With Skype, we aim to further enrich customers’ experiences.”

“We also see a keen interest among our customers to make Skype calls from their smart devices; a trend that is already happening among Skype users around the world. With that in mind, DiGi is making it easy for customers, especially those who are Internet-savvy, to extend their usage of Skype to mobile platforms.”

Bob Rosin, VP & GM of Business Development for Microsoft's Skype division, expanded, "We're excited about our relationship with DiGi and what this means for Malaysian mobile customers. This relationship is another example of how forward thinking and innovative mobile operators like DiGi are working with Skype to deliver great value to their customers while driving mobile data plan adoption and usage. Our co-marketing program for mobile operators is designed for partners to have flexibility in leveraging our brand and product to drive data ARPU and usage and win valuable new customers."

In the first phase of this collaboration, DiGi Post-paid customers will be the first to enjoy this redemption offer, starting from 1 April 2013. To redeem the Skype Credit, they are required to sign up for Post-paid Broadband or Mobile Internet plans. The free Skype Credit offer will also be available at participating DiGi Stores nationwide and via DiGi Store Online from 1 April to 31 July 2013 on a first come, first served basis, while stocks last. Expiry date for activation of the Skype Credit is 31 July 2013.
