OUT THERE MEDIA APPOINTS VP OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOR ASIA PACIFIC


Executive team member to strengthen strategic partnerships in the region

SINGAPORE, March 26, 2012 – Out There Media, a global leader in mobile advertising, today announced the appointment of Dharma Simorangkir as Vice President of Business Development in Asia Pacific. With deep experience in strategic engagements across the region, Simorangkir will oversee partnerships with media agencies, content providers and telecommunications operators for the company. This is in line with Out There Media’s strategic plan to further boost its presence and growth in Asia Pacific.

Simorangkir will report to Gerald Smith, Managing Director of Asia Pacific at Out There Media. Based out of Jakarta, Indonesia, he will be responsible for further growing Out There Media’s relationships with media companies, content providers and telecommunications operators, while he will also work closely with the rest of the Out There Media APAC team to expand the company’s client portfolio with brands and agencies across the region.

Asia Pacific is slated to account for 57.7% of mobile users worldwide in 2016 according to eMarketer, and mobile ad spending in APAC is correspondingly predicted to double in the next three years. Analyst firm, Gartner, highlights that Asia Pacific has taken an early lead in mobile advertising, predicting that mobile ad revenue in the region will climb to nearly US$9.5billion in 2016 from US$4.3billion in 2012. Gartner also predicts that Asia Pacific, as a region, is likely to maintain its dominant position with regards to mobile advertising, in 2013.

Prior to joining Out There Media, Dharma Simorangkir was Head of Mobile Advertising for South East Asia at Ericsson, where he launched Ericsson’s first Smart Pipe Mobile Advertising inventory and grew the business significantly. Simorangkir’s previous appointments also include senior positions at Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei, where he led successful mobile and marketing initiatives.
