ANGKASA Renews Contract for Unisys ClearPath Software and Services to Support Mission-Critical Application

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 July 2013 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that its Malaysian subsidiary has signed a renewal contract with Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia (ANGKASA), the apex body of the Malaysian co-operative movement, to continue to provide a range of Unisys ClearPath software, technical consulting services and application development consultancy for ANGKASA’s core payroll system (SPGA).

Under the five-year contract, Unisys will continue to provide ANGKASA with software for ClearPath Libra systems including Unisys Enterprise Application Environment, ClearPath ePortal and Enterprise Output Manager.  Unisys will also provide technical and application development consultancy and hardware maintenance services.

With membership comprising more than 5,000 co-operatives, ANGKASA provides training, education and entrepreneurial coaching, and offers administrative support services to its members. Among its many services, ANGKASA acts as a payment gateway between the employer of its co-operative members and credit institutions to provide automated payment of monthly subscriptions, loan instalments, insurance premiums, and other dues via payroll deductions. The service allows the co-operatives and other credit institutions to streamline payment collections in a systematic and secure manner.

Since 1996, ANGKASA has relied on a secure and flexible Unisys ClearPath technology environment to develop and run its core payroll deduction application.  As technology has evolved, ANGKASA has been able to enhance its IT systems without the need to rewrite the program code.  The ClearPath server uses metering, a pay-for-use business model that provides processing capabilities when needed to cope with growing application workload and processing demands driven by the growing membership base and an expanding range of services and web-based tools offered.

Mr. Jahangir Mohamed Naina, Sales Director Technology, Consulting and Integration Solutions,  Asia South, Unisys, said:  “The Unisys ClearPath environment provides ANGKASA with the flexibility to rapidly respond to changing marketing needs and unpredictable business workloads created by growing web usage, combined with the high level of reliability and security required to support financial transactions.”
