KUALA LUMPUR, 14 August 2013 Ð Acer Malaysia has joined hands with Stop Hunger Now to raise a target of RM50,000 to feed 300,000 people. The fundraising has had a head start with a RM10,000 commitment from Acer Malaysia. Another RM5 from every Acer product sold at their roadshows will be donated to this Stop Hunger Now programme. Roadshow details are available at  Acer Malaysia facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AcerMalaysia).

Both organisations are inviting the public to join them to enable more people to receive at least one nutritious meal a day. ÒAcer decided to sign up with Stop Hunger Now for a two-month  programme as part of our giving back to society effort. We have committed to donate a minimum of RM10,000 or 10,000 packs of meals. With each pack being able to provide 6 reasonable meal servings, these 10,000 packs will feed 60,000 people.

However, we hope to do more than just this with the help of generous Malaysians. We are enlarging the programme to the public to join in on this voluntary effort,Ó said Ricky Tan, General Manager of Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd.

Anyone can make a donation without any purchase at http://simplygiving.com/acerstopshunger. For every RM10 donated, the public is helping to put potentially life-saving food in 60 peopleÕs mouth.

In 2012, the World Food Programme released some hard hitting facts: 66 million primary school-age children who attend classes hungry across the developing world and another 67 million school-age children who do not attend school because poor households must often choose between sending their children to school or to work in the fields. Hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

Each Stop Hunger Now meal pack costs just RM1 and is highly nutritious. It contains rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavouring mix including 21 essential vitamins and minerals. With a shelf life of 2 years and easy to transport, it is a viable solution to combat hunger among the worldÕs most impoverished.

ÒAcer Malaysia hopes that by collaborating with Stop Hunger Now, we can in a small way, contribute towards alleviating hunger amongst the worldÕs poorest. We hope the public will join us in contributing towards this programme,Ó said Tan.
