Samsung and MODA Inspires Creativity in Children

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – September 12, 2013 – It was just three months ago when Samsung joined Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA) in celebrating its 23rd Anniversary to discover the infinite possibilities of style and innovation through Samsung Innovation – Style Awards. Today, Samsung and MODA spread the joy further to underprivileged children of Rumah Sayangan and Cornerstone through an experiential creative batik design activity.

The batik workshop was led by the award-winning designer, Nazleen Noor alongside three winners of Samsung Innovation – Style Awards 2013 namely, Farzaneh Abdollahi, Phuna Boon Yi and Rino Chan. They were there as mentors to teach and guide the kids throughout the batik painting session, making it fun and engaging to them.

“Once again, we are brought together here by a mutual passion to mould a new generation of creativity in young talents. With the collaboration of the young winners of Samsung Innovation – Style Awards 2013, we hope this batik workshop would inspire and encourage the children to unleash their creativity too,” said Vincent Chong, Head of Mobile Phone Division, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

“I am honoured to be part of this meaningful activity and it is a real joy to see the children having fun during the session. It is important for them to develop their skills from a young age and I am glad that Samsung and MODA has made the effort to provide such opportunity to the underprivileged children,” said Nazleen Noor, the owner of Nazleen Noor’s Creation, whom is a Malaysian fashion designer well-known for her exclusively handcrafted batik creation.

All children participated in the batik workshop with joy as they learnt simple batik printing techniques from their mentors. It was a fruitful and enjoyable session for the children as they showcased their youthful imagination, translated through mediums such as batik design.
