ABYRES & MANDRIVA SIGNS COLLABORATION

Abyres & Mandriva partnership creates the first enterprise open source desktop management in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 FEBRUARY 2014 – Abyres Group of Companies (Abyres) and Mandriva S.A. (Mandriva) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) creating the first enterprise open source desktop management solution in the country. In addition, Abyres was appointed today as Mandriva’s advance technology partner for Malaysia and Brunei.

In efforts to meet expectations, as the first step Abyres will be handling level 1 and level 2 support of Mandriva’s products. In addition, as Abyres is the certified technology partner for Mandriva in Malaysia, all of Abyres technical staff is accredited as certified Mandriva engineers. Abyres will be conducting training and transfers in technology to Mandriva’s customers in Malaysia and Brunei. Furthermore, Abyres and Mandriva will jointly develop the growing the Malaysian open source operating system.

Abyres CEO, Mohamad Jamal Suleiman said, “This is a significant milestone for us and we are enthralled to be Mandriva’s technology partner for Malaysia and Brunei. We will start by setting up level 1 and 2 support centres with aims to be the regional support centre for Mandriva in the ASEAN region. Furthermore, we hope to be working closely with any government open source competence centre in future to develop the skill set of engineers and open source technologies in Malaysia.”

This partnership will see a transfer of technologies between Abyres, the leading open source solutions provider and Mandriva, the European leader in open source based desktop and systems management products. Abyres will be in charge of driving Mandriva products through its strong local network of customers and partners.

By the end of 2015, Abyres and Mandriva are planning to have support centres for the ASEAN region in Malaysia. Abyres will help drive the growing momentum behind Mandriva solutions and will incorporate level 3 support centres for the region. Additionally, Mandriva intends to fully support Abyres to develop Malaysia’s growth for open source operating system with by 2016.
