Trend Micro Appoints Dhanya Thakkar as New Managing Director of Southeast Asia and India

Kuala Lumpur, 28 February 2014 – Trend Micro (TYO: 4704; TSE:4704) has announced the appointment of Dhanya Thakkar as Managing Director of Southeast Asia and India. In his newly expanded role, Thakkar will spearhead Trend Micro’s enterprise and consumer product segments in the region, helping deliver on the company’s vision of making the world safe for businesses and consumers to exchange digital information.

Thakkar was most recently the Managing Director for India and SAARC at Trend Micro, where he joined Trend Micro through the acquisition of IndusGuard, a company he co-founded and served as President.

With a knack for entrepreneurship and a strong blend of business acumen and technology expertise, Thakkar is well-regarded as a thought leader and recognized for having led successful business transformation for public-listed multi-national companies and start-ups. He is also the co-inventor of two patented technologies.

Prior to starting up IndusGuard, Thakkar was the Vice President of the Business Development and Security Center for Third Brigade, where he managed strategy and operations as well as engineered the acquisition of Third Brigade by Trend Micro. Thakkar also held various leadership positions at Entrust from 1995 through 2005.

Thakkar completed the Queen’s Graduate School of Business Executive Program from Queen’s University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Maharaja Sayajirao University in India.
