Blue Coat Launches ‘Business Assurance Technology’ Blueprint and Resources for Malaysia Market

IT-security veteran Ivan Wen is newly appointed country manager to drive Blue Coat’s strategies for more holistic IT security and Web protection

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12, 2014 – Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (‘Blue Coat’), a market leader in business assurance technology, today announces that the company is rolling key investments in its ‘Business Assurance Technology’ offering for Malaysia, in parallel with its recent appointment of IT-security veteran Ivan Wen as its country manager.

Blue Coat’s ‘Business Assurance Technology’ offering enables an entirely new and unique security approach that empowers organisations with secure yet flexible capability to choose and use technologies of choice across applications, devices, data sources and more, to achieve greater continuity, agility and governance for the business.

Country manager, Ivan Wen shared that Blue Coat’s ‘Business Assurance Technology’ strategy is extremely timely for the Malaysian market as it meets the exacting demands of local businesses that are increasingly seeking to adopt a ‘fully integrated IT security approach’ which facilitates trusted IT environments for greater business efficiency.

“Blue Coat’s ‘Business Assurance Technology’ blueprint makes it possible for organisations to immediately harness a diversity of best-of-breed technologies and Web services in the most secure way, so that Malaysian organisations do not lose out on leveraging IT to drive innovations within their businesses.”

Integrated Security Approach for Integrated Business Strategies

A recent global survey showed that the increase of technology choices today for support, potentially allows businesses to increase their revenue and profit by over 30 per cent. Yet, security remains as the single biggest obstacle that prohibits employees to select and leverage the best technologies at hand.

The Blue Coat ‘Business Assurance Technology’ blueprint addresses this via five (5) core centres of excellence that cover a comprehensive array of technologies, products, services, and capabilities that give businesses a total protection.

I. Security and Policy Enforcement Center delivers business continuity by protecting against threats and data loss.
II. Mobility Empowerment Center extends protection and policy to users in any location on any device.
III. Trusted Application Center enables organizations to safely deploy and consume all types of applications.
IV. Performance Center aligns IT infrastructure with business priorities to assure network performance and optimize user experience across the extended enterprise.
V. Resolution Center provides businesses with advanced threat protection by combining deep security intelligence and analytics.

Criticality of Advanced Threat Protection

Another key reason that many businesses today experience security breaches is due to the organizational gap between day-to-day security operations and advanced security operations teams.

“This gap exists because traditional security defences are only designed to detect known threats but remain largely blind to today’s zero-day threats and novel-type malware.”

“In view of this, Blue Coat also offers a comprehensive Advanced Threat Protection enabling businesses to fortify the network by blocking cyber threats, proactively detecting malware and automating best practices for incident containment post intrusion,” says Jonathan Andresen, Marketing & Product Marketing Director of Blue Coat Systems APAC.

Blue Coat in the Market

In 2012, Blue Coat led the Asia Pacific market in Web Security market share* market. Wen says that this market leadership demonstrates Blue Coat’s commitment to help customers seamlessly protect their users and data wherever they are, on any network.

“We have great opportunity to continue increasing our local market share by helping businesses securely embrace new technology trends, such as mobility and applications, while providing a high quality user experience – all possible via the ‘Business Assurance Technology’ offering.”

Established since 2005, Blue Coat Malaysia’s business model is 100% sales and distribution via channel partners.

Prior to joining, Ivan Wen was formerly the country manager for Sourcefire Malaysia. His IT-security experiences here also include helming the IT security businesses of F5 Networks and HP Tipping Point over the last decade. At Blue Coat, Ivan will assume the leadership role to drive growth and harness new business opportunities for Blue Coat in Malaysia.

“We will be working very closely with our local partners to positioning ‘Business Assurance Technology’ across industries,” said Wen.
