Welcome to the world of Asian Short Films with Yahoo in collaboration with Viddsee Celebrating Filmmakers and Short Films in South East Asia

Kuala Lumpur, March 10, 2014 – Yahoo brings the best of Asian short films to its users across Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines thereby celebrating cinema and recognizing talented filmmakers. Short films are a ground breaking, inclusive and accessible platform for exciting and engaging story telling. Yahoo has collaborated with Viddsee, an online video platform for curated, quality micro-cinema content to bring short films to the forefront.

This partnership will help showcase award-winning short films by local independent filmmakers across Asia. The short films will be made available to Yahoo users in the Philippines through a dedicated Viddsee “Asian Short Films” channel on the Yahoo Celebrity site.

“Short film viewings are often limited to film festivals. We are changing the game by bringing our vast user base to some incredible film content. Through this unique partnership our users will be able to view the best short films across South East Asia and honor the work of Asian filmmakers. ” said Alan Soon, Managing Editor of Yahoo South East Asia.”

“We are excited to take Asian short films to the next level by showcasing them through the Yahoo network. This partnership will surely help bring short films and filmmakers to the forefront, thus elevating this category to a wider audience appreciation,” said Ho Jia Jian, co-founder of Viddsee.
Among the Malaysian short films that can be viewed on the Asian Short Films channel include Lastik: Once Upon a Time in the East by Nadira Ilana; Outpost by We Jun and Mahen Bala; and Bejalai by Uzair Sawal.

“Yahoo and Viddsee’s collaboration can potentially help new and seasoned Asian filmmakers get the attention they deserve. I'm really excited about seeing how it will help to develop a network and viewership among South East Asian filmmakers in the 21st Century,” said Nadira Ilana, whose film Lastik: Once Upon a Time in the East is a playful interpretation of how North Borneo gained its independence from the British.
