Kuala Lumpur, 29 April 2014 – Yuna, one of Malaysia’s hottest homegrown artists, today showcases her love affair with music with the launch of the first-ever Spotify Session in Asia.
Yuna performs four tracks from her latest album, Nocturnal − 'Mountains', 'Rescue', 'Falling' and 'I Want You Back', alongside a cover of Drake’s 'Hold On, We're Going Home’.
She has collaborated with pop luminaries including Pharell Williams and performed alongside the likes of Florence and the Machine and Jack White, but still makes regular trips to perform in Asia, with her most recent concerts held in the region directly after her successful US tour early this year.
The singer-songwriter is always looking for ways to connect with her fans back home through music. “Spotify has completely changed the way I discover and listen to music, so to record the first-ever Spotify Session in Asia is a huge thrill. I hope you enjoy listening to the session as much as I enjoyed laying it down,” she says.
Sunita Kaur, Spotify’s Director for Asia, adds: “Spotify is no stranger when it comes to collaborating with both local and international artists and we’ve had the pleasure of hosting Spotify Sessions with Franz Ferdinand, Band of Horses, Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters and Men, amongst many others.
“We’re delighted to have Yuna as our first-ever Spotify Session artist here in Asia and can’t wait to bring our users more exclusive, homegrown talent.”
Spotify Sessions are intimate, exclusive performances by today’s most exciting artists. Recorded and mixed to the highest professional standards, they are available for free on Spotify offering artists the perfect platform to showcase their music to a global audience.
