MIMOS FORGES TIES WITH KEDAH ICT HOLDINGS SDN BHD

ALOR STAR, KEDAH, 12 June, 2007 – MIMOS formalised its collaboration with Kedah ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd (KICT) - a subsidiary of Kedah Chief Minister Inc. - with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently.

Under the MoU, MIMOS will work with Kedah ICT Holdings in promoting Agribazaar; and transfer of technology to KICT for the development of Kedah’s portal utilising MyGfl.

At the signing ceremony, MIMOS was represented by its President & Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Abdul Wahab Abdullah; while KICT was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Shaharin Saman. Menteri Besar Kedah, Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid was present as witness.

The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with Kedah Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Carnival which was held from 8 - 10 June 2007 in Alor Star and organized by Kedah State Government, and Kedah ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd (KICT), a subsidiary of Kedah Chief Minister Inc.

Themed ‘Broadband in Every Home’, the Carnival was targeted at communities from all walks of life in Kedah aimed at creating a technologically savvy and ICT literate society in Kedah.

Some 100,000 visitors comprising communities, students, ICT entrepreneurs, government officials and academician together with their families attended the three-day Carnival.

As a strategic agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), MIMOS showcased:
¨ K-Wheels: a computer-equipped mobile outreach bus, aimed at bridging the digital divide.
¨ AgriBazaar: an Internet-based online trading hub for buyers and sellers of agriculture products
¨ MyGfL: a one-stop centre for quality assured online learning content to promote and support lifelong learning in Malaysia aimed at accelerating the growth of Knowledge Society.
