Celcom Offers Lowest Call and SMS Rates to Indonesia with ‘Paket Baladewa’

Kuala Lumpur, September 26, 2007 - Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad has teamed up with popular Indonesian band, Dewa 19, to introduce Paket Baladewa, a new Starter Pack targeted specifically to the Indonesian migrant market.

The starter pack offers great rates for as low as 15sen to fixed lines and Excelcomindo (XL) numbers as well as 22sen for calls to other mobile lines (call charges are based on 20 seconds block). In addition, SMS for all phone lines cost only 15sen. Customers can also enjoy lowest rates for 8pax, with rates of only 15sen per minute for nationwide calls and 1sen per SMS.

Paket Baladewa also offers Direct Dial, which means customers can dial and call to the Indonesia without the prefix 131 - making it easier for frequent callers to Indonesia to directly stay connected and enjoy premium quality Direct Dialing at low rates.

Customers who purchase the starter pack will also be able to enjoy free Dewa 19 downloads and free latest news and lifestyle information just by dialing *162#. The service is in Indonesian, the first service of its kind in Malaysia to cater to the Indonesia migrant segment. They will also be entitled to receive a free Dewa 19 poster.

Commenting on this new initiative, Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin, Senior Vice President, Marketing of Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, said, “Celcom has designed the perfect package for our Indonesian customers to stay connected at the best rates. We hope that through our partnership with the band, we will be able to extend our reach in the Indonesian migrant segment,” Zalman said at the launch event for Paket Baladewa, which was also attended by Ahmad Dhani, band leader, singer and keyboard player for Dewa 19.

As a promotional tie-in, Channel X will be presenting the ‘Dewa 19 Malaysia Tour 2007’ which will take place in November to December this year. The five-city tour includes Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, marking the first time Dewa 19 will be touring 5 different cities in Malaysia.
