WCG 2007 Malaysia Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 September, 2007 – Alas, the anticipation and excitement for the World Cyber Games 2007 Malaysia Championship was wrapped with a Grand Finale at the Mid Valley Exhibition Center yesterday.

The inaugural WCG 2007 Malaysia Championship has brought together joy, despair and excitement to the cyber-athletes and cybergames fans. The event ended with a big bang, with 10 pro-gamers from 6 different games representing Malaysia to compete with the rest of the world during the WCG 2007 Grand Finals in Seattle, U.S.A. this October.

The WCG 2007 Malaysia Championship was funded by sponsors, has continued to prove itself as the nation’s largest computer game festival. With the continuous support from Samsung, the Worldwide Sponsor for the event, together with Intel, as the Gold Sponsor, and a join with more than 10 other co-sponsors, the WCG 2007 Malaysia Championship was yet another successful annual event.

The event was fun filled with exciting activities from its sponsors, exhibitors and organizer, such as the experience of Nintendo WII at the Samsung & Game Axis booths, Shuffling Contest, PC DIY Contest, Band Jam Competition, quiz sessions, products demonstrations, as well as LAN and Online Games experiences at the Gaming Experience Zone.

This year, the WCG 2007 Malaysia Championship has also invited guest gamers from Vietnam for a friendly match with our local StarCraft and Counter-Strike teams.

The event was officiated by its guest of honour, Ms. Yvonne Ch’ng from International Cyber Marketing, Inc. “Once again, the Malaysia Championship of the World Cyber Games concludes with wide interest from the cyber gaming community. I’m sure visitors and gamers alike enjoyed the excitement and friendly competition.”

Meanwhile, the 10 Champions from 6 WCG 2007 Official Titles will be representing Malaysia to compete in the WCG 2007 Grand Finals:

Starcraft®: Brood War™ – James Foo

Half-Life®: Counter-Strike 1.6 – Team Hybrid (5 in a team)

The WCG 2007 Grand Finals will be held in Seattle, U.S.A this year, with more than 70 nations worldwide, from October 3rd to October 7th, 2007.
