HP Simplifies Printing Experiences for Consumers at Home, Online and at Retail

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, October 4, 2007 – At its consumer launch event, HP today announced a broad range of industry-leading digital printing solutions, designed to make it easier for consumers to get high-quality prints and photo projects at home, online and at retail. HP will strengthen its home printing leadership with the introduction of the most user-friendly(1) and broadest offering of wireless-enabled printers.

“HP’s new Print 2.0 strategy will see the company extending our digital publishing platform to allow consumers to print or share their content wherever they are and whenever they choose. We will consistently offer the easiest and best printing experience at home, online and retail,” said Mr. Yan Yoke Ping, Country General Manager, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard (M) Sdn Bhd. “HP’s Print 2.0 strategy will make it even easier for consumers to print from websites like blogs and travel sites with innovative tools such as HP Smart Web Printing, specifically designed to help consumers’ print web-based content with ease.”

HP today showcased:
· Two new Scalable Printing Technology-enabled Photosmart All-in-One printers - the HP Photosmart C4385 and C7280 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier models designed to deliver high-quality prints at breakthrough speeds, available at a range of price points;
· New range of compact portable printers, namely the HP Photosmart A526 Compact Photo Printer, as well as new Vivera Ink formulation for improved water resistance;
· A brand-new genuine HP supplies product, the HP 110 Series Photo Pack that offers greater supplies value and affordability;
· Two new HP scanners, the HP Scanjet N7710 Document Sheet-feed Scanner and HP Scanjet G2410 Flatbed Scanner, and
· One new HP Officejet K7100, a versatile A3+ printer with exceptional media flexibility
Simplifying Home Printing with the Most User-Friendly Printers

HP is simplifying the printing experience at home, and the workplace by announcing seven new printers ranging Photosmart printers, Scanners and Officejets. “We are announcing the broadest digital printing offerings by sharing experiences designed to empower consumers to create and consume the content their way through a range of new products and services,” he added.

The line up of HP printers include the following industry-leading features:
· The Enhanced Photosmart Express user interface featured on these models allows users to print, create and share photos at home as they would at a retail photo kiosk.
· The new HP Smart Web Printing software that comes with all new HP Photosmart Printers allows users to print usable web pages without cut-off edges by automatically adjusting web content to fit the width of a standard-size page.
· The software’s “HP Smart Selection” mode also allows customers to easily select, modify, and arrange selected content from web pages, such as text, images and graphics, and print their selections in the order they choose.
· Today, HP also announced the broadest range of wireless-enabled printers in the consumer market with its four new wireless-enabled HP Photosmart Printers.
· In addition, to bring wireless capability to the entire range of HP printers, two wireless print accessories were also introduced.

Simplifying Web Printing Experiences
The new HP Smart Web Printing software, available with all new Photosmart Printers, saves paper, ink and frustration by allowing customers to print only the content they want from web pages—in the manner they choose. The software allows Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 users to print usable web pages without cut-off edges by automatically adjusting web content to fit the width of a standard-size page.

HP Smart Web Printing software also enhances printing with an HP Smart Selection mode that allows customers to easily select, modify, and arrange selected content from web pages, such as text, images and graphics, and print their selections in the order they choose.

Simplifying the Wireless Printing Experience
HP has introduced its broadest range of wireless-enabled printers in the consumer market; this includes two new wireless-enabled HP Photosmart printers and a wireless printing upgrade kit. The wireless LAN-capable models are the HP Photosmart C7280 and the HP Photosmart C4385 All-in-One Printer.

To provide a complete wireless capability for all its consumer printers, HP has also launched the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit with which users can simply plug the receivers into the printer and PC, and enjoy the same printing performance as USB-cable printing. This solution features a secure wireless connection with 802.11g and acts as a print server, providing convenient wireless access to an HP printer or all-in-one from virtually any PC.

Offering Choice and Value with HP’s New Supplies
The new Photosmart all-in-ones and printers that use the HP 74 Black Inkjet Print Cartridge and HP 75 Tri-color Inkjet Print Cartridge will benefit from the new HP “XL” high-capacity ink cartridges. HP’s XL cartridges are designed to deliver to customers, who print in high-volumes, up to 40% saving over standard cartridges(2). The HP XL Print Cartridges are part of HP’s new supplies portfolio that provides customers with even greater choice and flexibility with regard to supplies purchases.

HP’s new supplies come in color-coded blue, green and red inkjet print cartridge packaging, which is designed to help customers quickly and easily find the right ink supplies and best value for their printing needs.

· Standard (blue) – HP standard inkjet print cartridges offer the same high-quality inks customers expect from HP. Packaged in blue, the standard cartridges are designed for customers who print a moderate number of pages on a weekly or monthly basis. The blue standard cartridge, HP’s most popular cartridge choice, delivers the right
value for everyday printing needs.

· Value (green) – HP value inkjet print cartridges offer cost savings and high yields for customers who print in high-volume. The value category also includes the new high-capacity. XL inkjet print cartridges, which provide customers up to 40 percent cost savings, more than three times the prints, and the peace of mind that comes with fewer cartridge changes, as compared to standard cartridges. For example, the new HP 74XL volume is three times higher than the standard HP 74 cartridge. The higher volume provides the added convenience of getting three times more prints out of a single purchase and the cost savings is up to 40 percent over the standard cartridge.

In addition, HP’s new value category includes new Twin Packs that deliver savings up to 15 percent cost savings. This value category also includes all existing twin packs, multi-packs and photo value packs. Customers who already use these value offerings can find these items more easily in their new green packaging.

· Specialty (red) – HP specialty inkjet print cartridges, signified by red packaging, offer additional performance advantages over HP’s standard ink formulations. Specialty cartridges include HP’s wide array of photo inkjet print cartridges, which are ideal for customers who primarily print photographs and demand exceptional quality and increased durability. In addition, HP will be offering its new HP Vivera+ cartridge series, which bringing the latest HP color ink technology and benefits to HP’s older range of printers. For example, the new enhanced versions of the HP Vivera+ 57 HP 78 and HP 95 ink cartridges are specially formulated to bring bright and vivid colors to HP’s plain and specialty papers. Compared to the standard 57, 78 and 95 cartridges, HP Vivera+ 57, 78 and 95 provide improved photo printing,
producing vivid photos that that will resist fading for generations.
